What it means to Discover Your Personal Power
07/02/20 • 22 min
Hello my friends, Peggy Moore, here with Discover Your Personal Power podcast. I wanted to talk a little bit today about what it means to discover your personal power.
One of the tools I talk about is the VIA at Values in Action Inventory. The VIA Inventory of Strengths (VIA-IS), formerly known as the "Values in Action Inventory," is a proprietary psychological assessment measure designed to identify an individual's profile of character strengths. Take some time this week and may a VIA for yourself. You can find several online strengths assessments, my favorite is at https://www.authentichappiness.sas.upenn.edu/
It is on Dr. Martin Seligman’s website. He is the founder of Positive Psychology and a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and has written several books.

for free worksheets an upcoming workshop and the 12 weeks online Discover Your Personal Power Coaching Program.

Social Connections
Did you know that hugs can boost the immune system? They can help lower the risk of heart disease and they produce the happy chemical oxytocin, the connection, and bonding chemical in the brain. Hugs are good for you.
In fact, did you know that loneliness is linked to dramatic increases in the stress hormone cortisol, hardening of the arteries (which leads to high blood pressure), inflammation in the body, and can decrease executive functioning in the brain along with learning, and memory? According to a study done at Harvard, having no friends can be as deadly as smoking, it can increase levels of the blood-clotting protein which cause heart attacks and strokes
According to a research article published in 2010, people who have healthy social relationships can live up to 50% longer than loners. Social relationships are very important for both your physical and mental health. Friends are more effective than any treatment, therapy, or medication.
Find out more about why social connections are important for mind and body.

All about boundaries
Hello my friends, Peggy Moore, Here with Discover Your Personal Power Podcast.
I just read a quote that said. When someone tries to trigger you by insulting you or by doing or saying something that irritates you, take a deep breath, and switch off your ego. Remember that if you are easily offended you are easily manipulated!
I would add to that,
- recognize your boundary,
- name your limit
- tune into your feelings
- articulate your boundary
- and give yourself permission to ignore or disengage, or walk away.
Take a listen and let me know what you think
