Scotty Schindler built a $1.125 trillion real estate software business serving Australia and New Zealand.

He exited and retired early.

And he's a champion surfer.

Win-win-win is what Scotty lives by, but it's not all about creating wins for himself.

You won't want to miss the business insights he shares in this episode of Dirt Road Journeys!

Scotty Schindler is a business and sports leader proudly from Sawtell, New South Wales, Australia. Now the retired startup founder and CEO of ReNet, he is recognised as a leading Aussie business identity and keen surfer who has won multiple surfing Titles. An overview of Scott’s life shows an enviable ability to achieve success in anything he pursues.

At its core, Scott’s career is a story of creativity, hard work and a love of Australian life. As CEO of ReNet, Scott has presided over the growth of a startup business that began in 2000 with just 1 single property listing advertised. On Scott’s retirement in 2017, ReNet managed over $1.125 Trillion Dollars ($1,125,771,059,045) in real estate across Australia and New Zealand by 5,000 real estate offices and some 15,000 real estate salespeople.

In complement to his role as CEO, Scott is also a highly sought-after public speaker, trainer and thought leader within Australia and around the world. A business mentor and sales trainer that can back up advice with proven results in his own life, Scott credits his ‘quintessentially Australian’ identity as a born optimist and clear-cut straight talker as key to his success in this arena.

Before this present chapter of his life, Scott acquired his business and sales trade during 10 years in the insurance industry in the ’90s. Other organisations Scott is actively involved in are the Sawtell Boardriders, Sawtell Business Chamber, Surfing NSW and Fire + Rescue New South Wales. The roles vary but Scott’s devotion to community is a constant and so too an unending love of business and surfing that has carved out many, many adventures.

Alongside having represented and won for Australia at the world surfing titles, Scott also holds multiple surfing championships at all levels of amateur surfing. With an enduring belief that success in business and sport requires dedication to the same qualities, Scott is also very proud of his work as a coach and trainer of WQS surfers and Aussie surfers in junior development.

When away from his work or sporting commitments, Scott spends time with his family, and friends and is a proud supporter and sponsor of local sporting groups such as Sawtell Surf Life Saving and Sawtell Scorpions FC.

It turned out to be a good decision. Very good.

Listen to his story.

Reena Friedman Watts wanted to work at WGN in Chicago. That didn't work out, and, in a serendipitous manner, plan B became a gig on the Jerry Springer show. We need tradies, as they're called in Australia - those who make their living with tools, skill and craftsmanship.

There was a time when the big push was to get a university degree, and working in the skilled trades was a plan B or C.

Thankfully, that's changing, but those tradespeople are often also trying to be small business operators, and there isn't a lot of overlap in knowledge and skill set.

Sam Maxton helps with that and more.

Listen to find out how.

Sam Maxton is passionate about helping people succeed personally and professionally. One of his goals each year is to impact 1000 people's lives. He creates impacting and inspirational relationships for collaboration advocacy and good times.

At Business Sight, Sam solely works with trades and builders in Australia and New Zealand taking them through the most comprehensive training program in Australia to help them to be as good at business as they are at their trade. He and his colleagues work with them to build better business structures and work more efficiently. They work on Time, Team, Financials, Growth, Structure & Reputation Management, with well over 60 specialists who are industry focused to gain the best clarity for their clients.

Sam is also an advisor to his partner's business, JSM Solutions, where they educate business owners that admin procedures don't have to be a burden. They help create and implement processes and procedures for businesses and train staff so the operation runs smoothly.

Most people who wear a crown are born into the position it comes with.

Heather Langton earned her crown after trading in a hard hat, and she wears it proudly.

Her ability to coach companies to increase profits made her known as the profit queen, and the crown has been a part of her brand ever since.

While she enjoys coming up with profit generating strategies, perhaps her more noble mission is helping give people with criminal records a second chance through entrepreneurship.

Come and listen.

Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Heather Langton has been an entrepreneur since 4th grade, when she made and sold custom friendship bracelets. Since then, she has owned multiple companies, following in her initial entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2001 Heather Langton founded and operated a General Contracting company, specializing in residential remodeling. In 2007 Heather hired a business coach. With that business coach’s support and assistance, between 2008-2012 Heather increased the company’s revenue by 700%. In 2012, the company reached an annual revenue of 1 million dollars.

After closing the company in 2016, Heather was employed by and helped several business owners run their own company, always resulting in an increase in profits. She quickly realized that she was very good at helping others make more profit, and in 2018 Heather realized a dream and became a business coach herself.

Heather focuses primarily on helping business owners create strategic systems and processes for the company that increase profit. While Heather can help a multitude of different industries, her passion is working with companies in the Construction Trades.
