TW: heavy drug use, addiction
In this episode with Jade, we explore the world of psychedelics and addiction. Jade opens up about her spiritual journey though the use of psychedelics alongside her gender identity throughout her 20's. This was an eye opening and philosophic interview. I learnt so much whilst speaking to Jade.

23 Richard Speight, Touring Sober
Devil's Guide to Sobriety
11/19/21 • 47 min
In this episode I have the absolute pleasure of interviewing my housemate, my bestie, the man behind the theme tune, the bassist of Seething Akira, Richard Speight. I originally interviewed Maria and Richard together but for this episode we talk about Richard's new found sobriety. Richard hasn't drunk for over 5 months - a break from alcohol that has given him insight into being present for the experiences in life. We talk about gigging and touring sober which is always a subject I am curious about as it takes so much strength. We also talk about how the house dynamics have changed due to our sobriety and what it's like living with a sober Jess.

22 Charlotte's incredible journey
Devil's Guide to Sobriety
11/12/21 • 42 min
TW: Homelessness, drug abuse, sex work, rape, loss of a child
In this episode, I interview the incredibly brave @charpunx.
This interview is definitely one of the most serious episodes we have recorded and I applaud Charlotte for coming on and sharing her story. We talk about how she survived living on the streets and the lifestyle that came alongside it. Charlotte opens up about her addiction to heroin and how she survived being homeless, self medicating with hard drugs. We also talk about what lead her to getting sober and into recovery. We touch on the Brighton punk scene and one of our mutual friends, previous podcast guest Jamie Dimmock who helped her get sober. Now Charlotte is involved with projects which help other people on the street, get into recovery.

21 Jack and the Great American Challenge
Devil's Guide to Sobriety
11/05/21 • 47 min
TW: depression, excessive drug use
What an abolsute pleasure to be talking to @jackcmcnally who is a co-host of The Folklore Radio Show on @slackcityradio
I met him through his fiancé Courtney who I work with at Lust. We share some of our personal horror stories in realtion to the Brighton party scene. We touch on Jack's mental health and how alcohol started to effect his wellbeing. He explains how coming down to Brighton for university opened up a social scene that he had never been exposed to before. This is another funny and fabulous episode, I could talk to Jack for much longer about all things sober.

20 Alex Durdle
Devil's Guide to Sobriety
10/29/21 • 56 min
TW: substance abuse
In this episode I interview one of my actual human ex-boyfriends (brace yourself) Alex Durdle. In this episode we talk about the 8 month bender we both spent together and how much we enabled each of as addicts. We are also celebrating Alex's 3 month anniversary clean from cocaine and how that has changed his life dramatically. I also get to ask his parter some questions about what it's been like to date someone i recovery. This is a funny, silly episode but with some clear, strong messages at the end. I commend Alex for being so honest and open about his issues surrounding addiction.

Devil's Guide to Sobriety
10/22/21 • 38 min
T.W. self harm, domestic violence, suicide, death, mental health.
In this episode I am delighted to interview my amazing friend Chloe who very bravely and openly talks about hitting rock bottom and the journey to bounce back up, her battle with self-harm and traumatic life experiences remarkably similar to my own that we each dealt with very differently.
I cannot express how lucky I am to have this incredible woman as a friend and commend her so much for being so honest in this episode.

18 It's The Sex Episode
Devil's Guide to Sobriety
10/15/21 • 60 min
T.W. Sex, sexual assault, rape, grooming, drug use, abortion.
Welcoming back one of my absolute favourite guests from series 1, the one and only Holly Lang. As we did a toxic relationship last time, it only seemed right to carry on where we left on and do a sex episode. This episode just made me want to do a sex podcast with Holly every week instead, we had so much fun! Although we talk about some darker topics in this episode, there is light at the end of the tunnel and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!

13 Mary
Devil's Guide to Sobriety
05/28/21 • 49 min
T.W. Beravement, car accident, death.
In episode 13 I interview the gorgeous, beautiful human Mary- Jane Parnwell. I met Mary as we both used to work at a Brighton club night that was on every month. Mary has been living a sober lifestyle for the last 5 years and we talked about what experiences in her life lead to this decision. We talk about how Mary's mental health and wellbeing has changed since giving up alcohol. We also touch on how important it is to have a support network of people around you, especially when dealing with trauma and loss.
Shout out to a brand new sobriety based podcast @twoyoungdrunks. Luke and Jamie both talk about what its like to be young and in recovery. Keep posted for our collaboration episode which will be recorded in the next couple of weeks.
