Moving More & Motherhood with guest Jamie Poch (certified group fitness instructor)
12/01/20 • 39 min
My long time friend, Jamie and I share a common passion in our lives for moving more to make our bodies feel better. However, we know that mom life is a bit off-schedule and getting a workout doesn't always happen - and that is 100% okay!
Jamie is a mom of three young boys and is a certified group fitness instructor. She has kept on this path for 15 years and I think that says quite a bit about her fire for the health and wellness field. After baby number three, she is showing up on social media and building her brand of health and wellness. We talk all things from motherhood to these times during this pandemic to post pregnancy and of course all things fitness.
- Finding time to fit in a time for yourself to move or pair it with your kiddos activities
*Highlights discussed on the topics of Les Mills programs for adults and kids
Jamie's goal to help other women like herself, find balance, grace and gratitude in moving a little bit every day.

You & Exercise: Finding joy, consistency and stepping up your game
Getting in shape is usually the first thing a person will or want to focus on when they say “I need to lose weight” or "That's it! I’m starting my diet on Monday.” And even though excise is wonderful, I will put a disclaimer that if your main goal is weight loss, moving more may help but it comes down to the food – okay – we will talk more about that later but first let’s talk fitness.
Making exercise a consistent habit may be something you may or may not struggle with but through this little discussion I hope to give a few tips that might help you wherever you are at in your fitness journey.
First, finding the exercise that makes you happy . . . that you enjoy . . . that brings a boost of energy. Second, I want to discuss a simple method to make exercise a consistent habit. And third, I want to briefly touch on stepping up your game with a little plan I put together. This plan gradually steps up your fitness level for all you steady exercisers out there AND it is the perfect way to start to for all you beginners out there. A 4-week plan with workouts you can find on my site www.dailydietitian.com
I lead a solo discussion and we talk about finding what works for you to make exercise a consistent, fun and beneficial habit for life - enjoy!

09. Turning the Big 4-0 and more! Talking about my health goals and teaching my daughters positive body image
Hey friends, welcome to a bonus episode. I wanted to hide the fact that I am turning 40 today. Ugh, it is like the icing for a crappy year. And maybe I shouldn’t be all down in the dumps but there is something about turning this age for me. It sounds old, and yet I still feel like I am 25 . . .
I have some ah-ha moments I want to share.
Looking back 10 years ago, I'm not 100% sure but guessing, that when I turned 30 my health goals were something like lose those last 10 pounds from baby #2 or obtaining a number on the scale before I had babies. The number on the scale equaled my worth which is really sad to say but I think it is a common goal for many woman no matter how old you are.
I also talk about a little discussion I had with my daughter as my teenager calls me out and says, "Mom you are always telling us to say positive things about our bodies, why don’t you say it too?"
Whoa! And what do I say about myself when I may not always feel super positive? How do we teach our young girls positive body image. This is a tough one.
Body positivity or body self love is not just a switch you can turn on or just make a pretty post that says “love your body” this concept is way more involved for it to even be one sentence.
So, I would love for you to celebrate with me and join me on this episode. <3
