#25 – I Am Garbage Bitch (Boundaries, People Pleasing, and Energy Sovereignty)
Explicit content warning
04/17/23 • 44 min
Today's podcast is a little different! I'm sharing a journey I'm actively walking around learning to say no and set healthy boundaries.
I've had a lifelong struggle with people pleasing that has impacted all areas of my life.
Showing up to dinner with a friend when I'm so sick I have to drag my ass through the door because I hate to cancel plans? Check.
Pointlessly dating the same guy for weeks because I can't bring myself to tell him there's no spark? Check.
Taking on a volunteer role that is essentially an unpaid part-time job just because someone asked? Check.
Ignoring it when someone is mistreats me, because I'm programmed to be pleasant? Check.
But over the past few years, I've had a few wake up calls (ahem: chronic illness) that I need to heal this so I can serve at higher level.
So this week, I'm sharing some actions I'm taking (Garbage Bitch challenge!) and some of the teachings that have supported me as I'm walking this healing path.
Resources mentioned:
- Brooke's post
- Brig's podcast on disappointing yourself
- Simone's podcast on Garbage Post Challenge (and a follow up that discusses Garbage Bitch)

#24 – How to Be Wildly Creative and Prolific
Writers, artists, podcasters, bloggers, musicians, and content creators — this one's for you!
Have you ever sat in front of your computer struggling and grasping for ideas?
As a former full-time freelancer, I've been there too. And I know it doesn't work.
You might manage to get something out of yourself. But it's not exactly fire from the depths of your soul.
Friend, I'm happy to tell you the struggle is over.
Today on the podcast, I share eight (ish) brain hacks that will get your creativity flowing like a raging river, angry volcano, or whatever metaphor you like.
Not only will content be exploding out of you, it will be the kind of raw and heartfelt content your audience will love.

#26 – Your Struggles Are the Curriculum of Your Greatness
What do you do when life drops a big load of shit on you all at once?
That's exactly what happened to me this week. And I've got something to say about it! (Of course.)
One concept I've been leaning into is the idea that struggles are guideposts showing you the lessons you need to learn to be whole, fully human, and fully alive.
In this podcast, we'll talk about some of our knee-jerk reactions to enormous struggles (control, despair, etc.), why these don't really work, and a more helpful way to think about life challenges.
