Celtics Nation now knows when and where they will get to see this years Celtics team play and now its time for the Celtics Talk Crew to break down the schedule and give their thoughts on how diffucult of a schedule the league gave our boys in green and the key dates for the Celtics fans to keep an eye out for. The Celtics will open up the season on October 20th in New York against the Knicks. The Celtics will start the season with an 11 game stretch from October 20th to November 10th where only 2 games will feature teams who finished ahead of the Celtics in last years standings. It will be crucial for the Celtics to gel as quickly as possibly in that 11 game stretch as they begin a month and a half stretch on November 12th where they will run a gauntlet facing several of the leagues top teams all the way till the end of the 2021 calender year which could truly put them in a nice spot in the standings if they win most of those games or in bad position if they lose most of them. That month and a half span features 25 games which includes 3 games vs the Bucks, 2 vs the Suns, 2 vs the Clippers, 1 vs the Hawks, 2 vs the Lakers, 1 vs the Nets, 1 vs the Spurs, 1 vs the Raptors, 2 vs the 76ers, 1 vs the Jazz, 1 vs the Blazers, 1 vs the Warriors, 1 vs Knicks. The Celtics will have 5 back to backs in that span vs MIL @ CLE, vs LAL vs OKC, @ UTAH @ POR, @ LAL @ LAC, vs GS vs NYK. The Celtics schedule will get easier once they get to January, The Celtics will play 15 back to backs and only 3 of them will be without travel included the league average is 13.5 back to backs. The Celtics will play the Bulls, Heat, Cavs and Magic 3 times instead of 4 times. The Celtics in total will travel 43,000 miles this season which is 3,000 more then the Eastern Conference Average. So we will discuss this schedule and any other key dates that have been revealed for fans.

The Celtics are in the midst of the easiest stretch of their schedule. Playing 32 games where 28 of the 32 they play they are favored. The Celtics have now played 8 of those 32 games. The Celtics first 3 games were against some of the weakest teams in the NBA in the Lakers, Nets (2 times). The next 5 saw them against teams with playoff hopes in the Pistons, Bulls, Grizzlies, Knicks and Pacers with the Bulls and Pacers game being Nationally Televised. On the last episode of Celtics Talk Radio. The Celtics had played the Lakers game as well as the first of a home and home series with the Nets and lost both games making them 0-2 to start the 32 game stretch. The Celtics had also lost starting shooting guard Avery Bradley to an injury. So now 6 games later whats the latest. Did the Celtics turn things around. If so what adjustments did Brad Stevens and the team make. Who did Brad Stevens elect to replace Avery Bradley in the starting lineup. Is Avery Bradley still out after 6 games or did he return and if so how does he look. The Celtics Talk Crew will discuss those topics as well as what damage did the Celtics manage to do in the Eastern Conference Standings having to face several teams in the playoff race with them. The Celtics will be joined by John Karalis of Redsarmy for this episode.

The Boston Celtics Season came to an end this past Sunday at the hand of Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers via a 4-0 series sweep. Game 4 saw several things that could have an effect on both the Celtics in terms of their plans for the offseason and the Cavaliers in their chase for the NBA Championship. In game 4 we saw the Cavs 3rd best player Kevin Love go down with a dislocated shoulder which could cost him to miss some time depending on the severity. In the 3rd quarter the Cavaliers delivered 2 cheap shots to Jae Crowder. 1 delivered by former Celtic Center Kendrick Perkins as he delivered a shot to the head of Crowder shoving him to the ground which resulted in Crowder retaliating and Perkins hitting him in the face a 2nd time before the refs broke things up. Perkins was not ejected for his actions. Then in the same quarter JR Smith threw an elbow right to the face of Crowder which knocked him out causing Crowder to fall down in an akward way causing a leg injury and that led to Crowder having to leave the game. JR Smith was ejected for his actions. Now both JR Smith and Kendrick Perkins face possible suspensions for their actions which would cost them games in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Meanwhile some of the players the Celtics were depending greatly on to lead this team came up small in this series. Brandon Bass being one of the biggest dissapointments in this series. So now we recap what happened in games 3 and 4. What could the Celtics and its fans take out of this series? Did any of the players on the roster clinch their one way ticket out of Boston like Brandon Bass? Did any Celtics win over the fan base and earn the right to return next season like Jae Crowder? The Celtics Talk Crew will answer those questions as well as give you the updates on what the NBA has decided to do to Perkins and Smith for their actions in game 4. John Karalis of redsarmy.com will join us on this episode of Celtics Talk Radio

We have reached the final month of the Boston Celtic season. No on would have guessed it at the start of the season but. The Celtics traded away Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green and Marcus Thorton and are on the verge of making it to the NBA playoffs for the first time since before trading away Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. The Celtics are in the middle of a 5 team race featuring themselves the Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, and Brooklyn Nets. all 5 teams going into March 15th were within 3 and a 1/2 games of each other fighting for the 7th and 8th seeds which at the time belonged to Indiana and Charlotte. Since our last show the Celtics have played 5 games 4 of which came against playoff caliber opponents. Since March 15th each of those teams involved in this raced have played 3 games. The Celtics Talk Crew will explain were The Celtics now stand in the standings for the playoff picture and which 2 teams out of the Celtics, Heat, Pacers, Hornets, and Nets have the advantage going into the final month of the NBA season. The Celtics faced one of their hardest stretches that they will face in the month of January since our last show and during that stretch of games things were even harder as Danny Ainge opted to continue dealing off members of the Celtic Roster. Facing off against 2 playoff teams one featuring the team with one the best records in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics had a 3 game road trip playing at the Nets, at the Pacers and at the Raptors before facing the Pelicans at home. During that stretch Danny Ainge traded forward/center Brandon Wright to the Phoenix Sun's in exchange for a protected draft pick and a trade exception. Then just 2 days later Ainge traded forward Jeff Green to the Memphis Grizzlies in a 3 team deal that included the Pelicans. In exchange for Green the Celtics received the expiring contract of forward Tayshaun Prince, the expiring contract of Austin River's and a future 1st round draft pick from the Grizzlies. The Celtic's are now just a little over a month away from the NBA trade deadline and with the fact Ainge has shifted into high gear on the trade road it is safe to bet that more moves are coming but for who? The Celtics Talk Crew will discuss who on the Celtic's roster may be getting moved next as well as how are our young players performing while dealing with the uncertainty of knowing who they will have available for each game. Are they actually playing to win at a time where many could think Ainge is trying to force the tanking to happen. The Celtic's Talk Crew will be joined by Warren Shaw to discuss where the team sits with one month left before the trade deadline and discuss if its best for the team's future to get rid of the players who want to win and tank or if its best for the development of our players to have them play to win even if it means going to the playoffs and skipping the NBA lottery this summer.

Celtics Talk Radio - Celtics Talk Radio episode 88 The Return of Rajon Rondo
play

01/05/15 • 122 min

The Celtic's and their fan's had to endure a tough month of December as the Celtics lost to some of the worst teams in the NBA. The Celtic players and fans had to endure losing the last piece of the 2008 NBA Championship and now the team and their fans are enduring one of their toughest months of their schedule and that is the month of January 2015. The Celtic's since our last show have played 3 games. 1 of those games coming against a playoff team with a member of the 2008 NBA title winning team on it. The Dallas Mavericks which is where Rajon Rondo now plays paid thier only trip to the TD Garden this season. The Celtics also faced off with the Bulls and Kings. The Celtics Talk Crew will welcome to the show ADAM LOWENSTEIN. ADAM LOWENSTEIN along with the Celtics Talk Crew will discuss Rajon Rondo's return to the TD Garden. Did Rajon get the same treatment from the fan's and the organization that Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce did when they returned to TD Garden during the 2013/14 season. Or did the reports of Rondo wanting out of Boston cause the fan's to treat him different. How did the Celtic's fair in these 3 games. Did they continue to do what many have called for which is lose, lose, lose and increase their odds in the loterry or are the Celtics still closer to the playoffs then the worst record. All of that will be discussed on Celtics Talk Radios 1st show of 2015

The final Celtics Talk Radio broadcast of 2014. The Boston Celtics have played 4 games since our last broadcast. The Celtics played at the Miami Heat then at the Orlando Magic. Then hosted Kevin Garnett and the Nets.  Then faced off with Paul Pierce and the Washington Wizards down in the nation's capital. The Celtic's Talk Crew will recap the big question which is. Did the Celtic's make up their mind in regards to what they wanted out of this season? Did they dominate the month of decemebr and gain ground on the weak eastern conference playoff race. Or did they get beat by the teams in the NBA'S mediocre group and instead push themselves further away from the playoff picture and make it look like another tanking season is in our midst. Jay O of redsarmy.com and Jon Shames will join Igor and the rest of the crew to discuss where do the Celtic's go from here do they repeat the same thing they did in the 2013/14 or do they fight to show fans they are looking to win and make an impact now and not focus on hypothetical situations 4 or 5 years from now

The day that Rajon Rondo hater's have been calling for, for years which just happens to be a day that faithful Rajon Rondo fan's wished would never come has come. Danny Ainge since the 08-09 has seen members of the Celtic's 08 championship team walk away and if it wasn't the player's walking away then it was Danny Ainge sending them away via a trade to start the rebuild. Now Danny Ainge has done it again. This time sending away the final piece to the Celtic's 2008 championship team in Rajon Rondo. Rajon was traded to the Dallas Mavericks this past Thursday night in a move that will bring back the Celtics 3 player's and 2 future draft pick's. Rajon Rondo along with Dwight Powell go to Dallas while Jameer Nelson, Brandon Wright and Jae Crowder. As well as a future 1st and future 2nd round pick. So the question now is. Where do the Celtic's go from here? The Celtic's could end up extending a rebuild that at the end of this season will have been 2 years long. Or they could be looking to start over from scratch come next summer when the free agency market starts. The Celtic's talk crew will break down the contract's and be joined by Rich Conte

The Celtics finished their 5 game Western Conference Road Trip last night by facing the defending Western Conference Champion Phoenix Suns. The Celtics on the road trip took on the Jazz, Trailblazers, Lakers, Clippers and Suns which included 2 back to backs (Jazz/Trailblazers, Lakers/Clippers). The Celtics started the trip losing to the Jazz 137-130. They rebounded the next night beating the Trailblazers 145-117. The Celtics had 2 days off before taking on the arch rival Lakers in LA and would go on to lose that one 117-102 in a game that saw the Celtics keep the game close in the 1st half before Lebron and company blew the game open in the 2nd half. The very next night the Celtics would take on the Clippers who played without their top 2 players in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and yet the Celtics still lost 114-111. The Celtics would then have a day off before taking on the Phoenix Suns. The Celtics would take on the Suns in a game that would see the Celtics again play an opponent missing a key piece of their roster as the Suns were missing All-Star Devin Booker but the Celtics would again be missing Jaylen Brown as he would be missing his 5th straight game. The Celtics would keep the game close in the 1st quarter before the Suns pulled away in the 2nd. Jayson Tatum and Dennis Schroder were the only 2 players who showed any fight in the game last night. Not putting up a fight and having a lack of energy or will to compete was a major trend in this 5 game stretch where the Celtics went 1-4 without Brown where their only win was a 28 point win over the Trailblazers who didnt have Damian Lillard. The Celtics in this road trip lost to a Clippers team missing Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and a Suns team missing Devin Booker while having the best player on the floor in Jayson Tatum. We discuss the 5 game road trip with Mike Dynon (@MikeDynon on twitter) as well as let you hear the frustration many celtics experts are now having with the team via our audios
