Democrats and the Path to Transformation
05/30/23 • 33 min
In this episode, hosts Ken, Daryl, and Gabriella delve into the significance of a robust Democratic brand as the 2024 elections draw nearer.
Throughout this conversation, we discuss the potential repercussions of maintaining a stagnant Democratic brand, both politically and financially. Daryl and Ken highlight the disconnect between favorable Democratic policies and the party's current branding, emphasizing the need for a transformative shift in approach.
We touch on the many problems of America's healthcare system in America, specifically with "Big Pharma". In the words of Ken Weber, "lobbyists run America". If anyone can fight for the people and help change that -- it's Democrats.
That's why we are here! To help Democrats get in office, quickly....
Hope to see you next week.

Building Blue with Congressman Mark Pocan
On this week's episode of Branding Democrats, we are joined by special guest Congressman Mark Pocan to talk Democratic branding from the ground up.
Congressman Pocan is a politician and small business owner, serving as the U.S. representative from Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district since 2013.
In this episode, we focus on the strategies Democrats can use to generate unity within the party to create a strong brand, based on values, not candidates. From an insider's perspective, we explore the current gaps within the Democratic Party and shed light on their efforts to prioritize a "people over politics" message.
Congressman Pocan stresses the significance of grassroots campaigning, the impact of yard signs, and the crucial role of building the Democratic brand within local communities. Wisconsin's remarkable success in voter turnout and appealing to younger voters unveils invaluable lessons applicable to Democrats nationwide.
Additionally, we cover some recent Republican hypocrisies, including the debt ceiling disaster, George Santos, MTG, border control, and more. We emphasize how a part of successful Democratic branding is exposing the (constant) lies within the Republican Party.
Tune in to this special episode of Branding Democrats, with exclusive insights from Congressman Mark Pocan.

Bubbleheads
In this episode of Branding Democrats, we explore the Democrats' vision for America. Imagine a scenario where Democrats have full control of the House, Senate, and the White House. We discuss the policies they would prioritize, with a particular focus on combating climate change and transitioning to clean and renewable energy sources.
Ken, Daryl, and Gabriella talk about what everyone knows America is lacking: affordable healthcare. We draw comparisons to healthcare systems in Europe that offer universal coverage and more affordable care. The current U.S. system benefits insurance companies and lobbyists while leaving many uninsured, underinsured, or burdened by medical expenses.
In our conversation, we also critique the Republican party for favoring the wealthy and perpetuating trickle-down economics that do not benefit the majority of people. Ken coins the term "bubble heads" to describe adamant Republicans who refuse to consider facts, logic, or science beyond conservative media outlets.
We explore how the rich protect their assets and avoid paying their fair share of taxes, placing the burden on the middle class. Democrats must effectively communicate the unfair game played by wealthy Republicans, exposing hypocrisy and lies.
To contrast, we pose a scenario of a Republican-controlled government, discussing the potential exacerbation of income inequality, environmental neglect, decreased healthcare access, and policies that favor the wealthy over the majority. We also touch on the risks of a fascist state, drawing parallels to Donald Trump's modeling after Mussolini and the politicization of government agencies.
We conclude by highlighting the importance of Democrats reclaiming the narrative of freedom. True freedom includes access to healthcare, education, and basic necessities that the government can provide. By emphasizing the significance of a fair and just society with equal opportunities for all, Democrats can shape a brighter future for America.
