U.S. Sets New Record for Issuance of Nonimmigrant Visas in 2023 Did you know that the U.S. Department of State issued a decade-high 10.4 million nonimmigrant visas in 2023? Well, it's true, according to the latest official figures, and 40% of those nonimmigrant visas were processed without in-person interviews. The U.S. Department of State also issued 563,000 immigrant visas (or green cards) during 2023, reducing the immigrant visa backlog by almost 50%. And 590,000 nonimmigrant and immigrant visas were issued last year to high-skilled workers and executives - the most ever. So, if you're interested in legal immigration—that is, applying for a nonimmigrant or immigrant visa through the appropriate legal channels—things are looking up. I'm Joseph Bovino, U.S. immigration and business attorney serving clients worldwide. Use the link in my bio to schedule a consultation. 5 REASONS WHY THE E2 INVESTOR VISA MAY BE YOUR WINNING TICKET TO THE AMERICAN DREAM If youre a successful foreign entrepreneur, here are 5 reasons why the E2 investor visa may be your winning ticket to the American dream: 1. Invest as little as $100,000 The law simply says that you must make a substantial investment in your new U.S. business. But in practice, immigration officials tend to want to see an investment of at least $100,000. 2. Start a new U.S. business, buy an existing business, or invest in a franchise. You have options with the E2 visa. 3. Renew your E2 visa (indefinitely) The original term of an E2 visa is typically 5 years, but you can renew it as long as your E2 enterprise continues to operate and grow. 4. Bring your family members Not your whole family, but your spouse and any children under the age of 21 are eligible for derivative E2 visas. 5. Potentially adjust your status to permanent residency (green card) This is Joseph Bovino, U.S. immigration and business lawyer.
