As women, we’re trained to be people pleasers. To keep others happy. To be nice and compliant. We tend to put our own needs and dreams aside because we feel responsible for everyone else.

My guest this week, Elaine Blaise, life coach, author and “Midlife Troublemaker,” was living the life she thought she wanted. She had a marriage of 37 years and a successful career of 25 years. She had set goals for her life and was following the plan.

But she had a constant niggling feeling something was missing. And she started paying attention to her discontent. This inner wisdom was showing her what she needed to walk away from and what was no longer serving her.

She explains how she was able to LEAN IN to her discontent instead of avoiding it, and how that led her to pursue the life SHE wanted, instead of the one others expected her to live.
