Business Shame
Booked Out Without Burnout
06/05/23 • 93 min
How many times have you questioned the way you run your business?
Better yet, how many times have you felt embarrassed for even thinking you needed to question your business?
Having the opportunity to work so closely with thousands of women creating businesses for themselves, I feel confident in saying this statement:
YOU are not ALONE in your feelings.
In fact, I would be so bold to say that I believe every single business owner at some point or another has had doubts about their business, and then felt guilty about having them.
But why?
Why do we feel the need to impose this idea of perfectionism on ourselves, or business, etc. When there are SO many of us that have the SAME kinds of emotions/feelings?
This week on the podcast, I have my COO and sister, Brenna, on to talk about business shame and how we see it showing up for people. We also give you a peek behind the curtain of my business to help normalize pivots, changes, and all the ups and downs that come with business.
You’ll learn:
- Why it is important to embrace the different seasons in your business
- How shifting in your business to something that excites you might mean changing your original plans (and there isn’t anything wrong with that!)
- Why wanting something more for yourself, your family, and your business, isn’t a bad thing
- How you should never assume that your business is over just because you have one bump or failure on your path to success

When To Quit
Booked Out Without Burnout
06/12/23 • 48 min
“What if you quit?”
This is a question I ask many of my clients during 1:1 coaching sessions.
It usually branches from our initial conversation of the “Maybe” game that they’ve been playing.
The “Maybe” game is probably one of the worst games that business owners play with themselves in the back of their heads....
You’ve probably played it before, you just didn’t know it had a name.
“Maybe I should be more patient.”
“Maybe it’s never going to work.”
“Maybe I should pivot into a different direction.”
“Maybe I should just quit altogether.”
If you’ve felt any part of the “Maybe” game before, you are in good company.
I invited my client, Sarah Waggoner, both a successful Etsy Seller and Etsy Seller coach, to the podcast today to chat more about this “part of the process' ' in both of our businesses.
We have both doubted many twists and turns in our businesses before. She and I are ready to chat about the challenges, successes, and feelings around these fluid movements in our businesses.
In this episode of the podcast, we’ll chat more about how you’ll know that it's time to quit, pivot, or stay the course as a business owner. If you’ve been playing the “Maybe” game more than you’d like, then this episode is for you!
Learn More About Sarah:
Sarah owns Heartland Lettering, a product business selling on Etsy and Amazon. She also teaches Etsy sellers how to get more sales on Etsy simply and efficiently. You can find her on Instagram or in her free Etsy seller Facebook group
You’ll Learn:
- Why it might be important to question the entire “thing” that you are feeling unsure of in your business, instead of just making micro-changes
- How just because something isn’t working, doesn’t always mean it’s time to quit
- Why if you’re someone that truly wants to run a successful business, that is enough of a qualification to be successful
- How as a business owner you need to identify the actual reality of running a business

What You Can Learn From The Crypto Crash
Booked Out Without Burnout
01/30/23 • 45 min
Everyone in America appreciates the drama when there's big wins, and big losses surrounding a rags to riches story. And that is exactly the best way to describe Crypto and Bitcoin.
It's one of those fascinating things that's developed over the past 10 or so years, and everyone has questions about it. More importantly, how it could translate and/or forecast events for other online businesses in the future.
In this week’s episode, I am chatting with my husband, Stuart, about this specific topic. He will dive into the drama, share the story, and any updates surrounding Crypto. We will also share what does this mean for other industries, including online businesses, and the details surrounding those topics.
You’ll learn:
- How Crypto gained traction, and where the rise and fall surrounding this idea started
- Why with online business, because they are less tangible, it's so much easier for the boundaries to “not be there”
- How when you are the one investing in your own business, you are the one that is creating the results
- Why when you are building your own business, you have to be willing to work in all phases of it, and not get lazy

Deinfluencing
Booked Out Without Burnout
03/27/23 • 54 min
Deinfluencing is my new personal guilty pleasure when I am scrolling Tiktok.
For those of you who do not know what deinfluencing is, it’s people sharing their opinions on products, services, etc. that they believe to NOT work. So, for example, someone sharing about how a mascara might not be as “fantastic” as influencers are claiming it to be.
Which made me think, “hmm...wouldn’t it be so FUN to do a whole podcast episode deinfluencing some MAJOR key things in the online business world...
Fun, right?! There are so many “must haves” and “must dos” out there in business, if you tried to do them all, you would never sleep and your business would never get off the ground.
You know how I love a good controversy, and love getting juicy and ranty with things like this. And who better than my sister, Brenna, to do this kind of episode with?!
In this episode, we’ve taken some common strategies, concepts, and tools associated with online businesses, and broken them down into three categories. We will be “deinfluencing” some juicy topics, and ideas, so you will want to tune in!
You’ll learn:
- How many of the common beliefs in the online business space are not all necessarily true
- Why there really shouldn’t be a set blueprint when it comes to admin tech beliefs in online businesses
- How common beliefs in the personal development world should not be the only thing you base your online businesses’ mindset growth on

Is The Coaching Industry Becoming One Big MLM?
Booked Out Without Burnout
02/13/23 • 62 min
Is coaching a pyramid scheme?
I see all kinds of things on the internet with people talking about this idea,” is coaching a pyramid scheme?”
This episode is such a juicy, juicy topic. So, I invited one of my clients, Erica, with me to do this podcast, and we had such a blast talking about this hot button issue together.
I do think that for coaches there is almost this secret shame they feel, or tension internally around this issue. The way I see it, showing up as a coach on social media can be a hard time.
The integrity around selling a product can be tied to different levels of drama. Unfortunately, it becomes challenging to sell their service, and to sell coaching. Mainly because, in the back of their head, the coach is thinking, “am I part of that pyramid scheme?”
In this episode, Erica and I will share our non-defensive insights on this topic. We will share the emotions that most coaches tie to this idea, why they feel this way, and how to form your own idea about the coaching industry.
You’ll learn:
- How just because a person made money doesn't mean that they are good at helping other people make money
- Why if you are a coach, it is important to put intention into the words that you are putting out into the Internet
- How realizing that coaching is for certain kinds of people, and it is ok if you identify if it isn’t in the cards for you anymore
- Why you need to take the emotions out of hiring a coach, and look at the person in an objective way

The Parallels Between A Successful Business And Sustainable Health Goals
Booked Out Without Burnout
03/20/23 • 53 min
When was the last time you felt let down in your business?
Think about the situations and efforts surrounding that disappointment.
Ask yourself:
-Were you showing up as best as you could for that offer?
-Did you do everything you possibly could to market yourself?
So then WHY, if you truly believe in your heart of hearts, that you did everything you possibly could for a successful launch, do you feel like you failed?
This idea of consistency HAS to equal high returning efforts is a notion that we see in varied areas of our life. From business to health/wellness, we have had this ideology drilled into our brains that if you work hard enough, the results will ALWAYS come.
And that just isn’t always the case.
For today’s episode, I invited one of my clients, Victoria Yates, to the podcast to discuss just that. We will talk about the similarities between business and health, self trust, consistency, and more.
Learn about Victoria:
Victoria is a health coach who helps clients make peace with their bodies and food, and pursue health goals with a more intuitive and sustainable approach.Connect with Victoria on INSTAGRAM
You’ll learn:
- How not trusting ourselves is a precondition to believing everyone else is a better expert than we are in all aspects of our lives
- Why the idea of “failure means you cannot go further” is the exact opposite of how life really works, and we need to change our mindset around this vision
- How being in touch with yourself, and your intuition, will allow you to have a more realistic view when listening to experts
- Why consistency won’t always lead you to the outcome you are looking for

The Value Of Copy
Booked Out Without Burnout
06/26/23 • 56 min
Full disclosure if you’re any kind of business owner:
You can have a successful business with bad copy.
I’ve been there...almost every single person that has a successful business has created bad copy once or twice before.
(Think of it as almost a rite of passage as a business owner, LOL).
And I really feel like this is such an important place to start because so many people feel like their business is suffering from bad copy.
When in reality, because business owners believe they create bad copy, so they don’t create content.
So then what happens? You get no clients, no sales, no business.
But bad copy is better than no copy. Crappy content can still help and inspire people.
You just have to know how and when to use it for you and your business. And once you find your voice, your area of expertise, and your groove, it will get easier.
This week on the podcast, I invited my friend and client, Erica, to chat about all things related to copy. Together, we talk about how bad copy is better than no copy (and you can still get clients with it!), the different phases of copy skills development we’ve been through personally, and give lots of tips and prompts to help you up the value on the content you create.
Learn More About Erica:
Erica is a former therapist and certified life coach. She helps really busy professionals get more confidence and battle any sort of burnout. Erica also helps her clients manage their time so that they can enjoy all of the things that they’ve created and achieve even more in their professional and personal lives.
You’ll Learn:
- How there are phases of copy that are “liquid”-meaning, you will flow back and forth through them in different times of your business
- Why sometimes the problem isn’t that people aren’t connected to your content...they aren’t connected to you
- How the technique of “copycat” copy doesn’t work for every industry
- Why learning how to be authentic but relevant to your audience will lead to success in your business

Dopamine Hangover
Booked Out Without Burnout
05/29/23 • 44 min
How many times have you had that light bulb moment in your business, for it to only burn out as fast as it came in?
Then, what were you left with when the idea didn’t pan out, or took longer to achieve, besides a burnt out light?
You’ve probably felt one, if not all of these:
insecurity, unworthiness, frustration, anger, unmotivated, and sadness, just to name a few.
There’s this narrative that's out there that if you don't keep taking action towards your goals, then you're lazy or you don't want it enough, or you aren't cut out for business.
And more often than not... that’s just not true. In fact, you can thank your hormones for most of those feelings.
This amazing, yet harmful fascination is what my friend, (and one of the incredible coaches on my team), Crystal Agyei, calls the “Dopamine Hangover”.
I invited Crystal to join me on my podcast this week to talk more about this concept so we can help you feel less like an unmotivated lazy person who isn’t cut out for business...
And help you to realize this happens because you’re a regular human with a regular human brain.
In this week’s episode, you’ll learn why this “Dopamine Hangover” happens. But more importantly, tips and tricks to help you make it through. (or avoid!), the Dopamine Hangover to actually stay engaged with your goals and continue moving forward.
This is a podcast episode everyone needs to listen to!
You’ll learn:
- How exactly causes this “Dopamine Hangover” from a scientific perspective
- Why just because someone has had something work for them in the past, doesn’t necessarily mean it will for you
- How avoiding Dopamine Hangovers stems from a feeling of sufficiency
- Why it’s important to Assess the mental, energetic, and physical capacities of the Dopamine Hangover, and how they specifically relate to you

The Dangerous Magic Money Machine, Funnels, And How Copy Is Changing
Booked Out Without Burnout
02/20/23 • 52 min
How many times have you ever scrolled on social media, and come across something promising you the ANSWER to success in your business?
These posts are usually things like:
“Ready to learn my secret of how I made 5k in 30 days?”
“Swipe up if you are ready to make 6 figures”
...and so on and so forth.
For this topic, I wanted to bring in my client, Andrea Scalici, with me as a guest. We are diving into this idea of this “money making machine” pitch. The biggest problem with these, is that the new business owners look up to their mentors for guidance, and inspiration. As a result, they make this sky-high goal for themselves, before they maybe have even made their first dollar in their business. Which unfortunately, can lead to disappointment, burn out, and, in some cases. Debt.
In this episode, Andrea and I will talk about the negativity surrounding this concept of magic money machines, why funnels aren’t always the answer for growth, and you’ll hear me getting worked up about the state of marketing in 2023 and how to stand out.
You’ll learn:
- Why being too close to your business makes you blind to how potential clients perceive your content
- How to build your business up for long term success, instead of short relationships and one-time purchases
- Why paying for ads and putting all of your energy into the success of a funnel might be a bad thing
- How you can utilize your trust and relationships with your audience to create meaningful and useful content people want to invest in
