Behind The Wheel Podcast
Two months ago I picked up Mark in New Haven near Yale, I hit him with my standard opening line "Looks like we're heading to New Jersey?" to which Mark said: "Huh, wait what? We're not going to Jersey". That line is usually met with surprise, because no one likes going to Jersey. After the shock wore off, we continued chatting and I shared my desire to travel across the country and do a mini documentary in my Mini Cooper. That's when Mark told me about his friend Rob's "Crazy" project and I knew instantly, I wanted to have him on the Podcast, because he's my brand of "crazy" Rob is originally from Norristown, he spent some time in Philly now he lives in Long Beach California. Rob graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Finance and minors in Accounting & Entrepreneurship. After graduation, he began his career with Deloitte Consulting as a Business Analyst in Strategy & Operations. He took a huge pay cut and started working at a tech start-up. Somewhere along the he began to have a longing for genuine human connection, so he set this audacious goal of meeting 10,000 1:1 for an hour. "I started this project to see if I could meet with people to chat for an hour for absolutely no reason and held my first meeting on November 11, 2015." On Monday, June 20, 2016, he was told he wouldn’t have a job, the tech start-up was acquired by a larger company, which didn’t require his position. "I dove in full-time on my endeavor to meet 10,000 different people for an hour each. I love adventure and I love potential – I think this project has both so I’ve been greatly satisfied with how it’s gone so far and can’t wait to continue giving it 110% to see where it goes!" As today May 22, 2019 Rob has completed 2,620 1:1 conversations with random people, to find our more about Rob's project visit Robs10KFriends He usually hangs on IG: Robs10KFriends

Shira Tarantino Interview

I made a pit stop in Stamford for something to eat on my way back from Brooklyn. Heading home I see three police cars and a group in front of the state building, so I make a u-turn, park the car, grab my gear and head over to see what’s up. As I’m making my way through the crowd I hear a voice, hey you just missed it-it’s Julie from Pacific Cycling & Triathlon , she says go over there and talk to Shira Tarantino - so I did. Shira is an ordinary person who is doing EXTRAordinary things within her community. Shira is a community activist in Stamford CT.
