48 - Why Won’t They Apologize? The Hidden Depth Under the I’m Sorry

Be You Podcast

Why is it so difficult for some of us to say, “I'm sorry?” Why do we sometimes feel like we need to justify it? I’ve shown up this way. It is so easy to fall into that pattern of saying sorry but not truly apologizing in a way that shows empathy or acknowledges the other person’s feelings in any way. Why is it so hard for some of us to show empathy and acknowledge their pain even when we don’t understand or agree?

In this episode, we dig into what a good apology looks like and what a bad apology looks like. There are three key parts to an apology that will not only strengthen your relationship with the other person, but it will allow you to grow. I give you actionable steps to take and questions to ask yourself as you apologize to someone, receive an apology from someone, and talk to someone in your life who just can’t say the words, “I’m sorry.”

47 - Carah Elizabeth: The Inner Child: Discovering the Wisdom of Your Body

Are you ready for a new favorite Be You Podcast episode? This specific episode is so powerful and eye-opening. During this almost-hour-long interview with today’s guest, I learned so much and am thrilled to share it with you.

Today’s guest is Carah Elizabeth. Carah Elizabeth is a Body Wisdom Coach. She incorporates her years as a psychotherapist with holistic approaches such as Somatic Movement, Yoga, breathwork, and Reiki energy healing to help women find healing for their body, mind, and soul. With 15 years experience, Carah has helped thousands of women reconnect to the wisdom of their bodies; finding freedom from the prison of body hatred, limiting beliefs, and past traumatic experiences so they can live a life fully connected and confident.

I could talk with her for hours, but today we chose the topic of inner child work. I have spent years in talk therapy but had never heard of this until recently. I am so eager to learn more and Carah is the perfect guest to guide us. In this episode, she not only helps us understand and embrace inner child work, she gives us actionable steps to take to begin the process and offers so much guidance with wide-open arms.

49 - When We Call Them Givers But They’re Unknowingly Takers

In true Be You Podcast fashion, we’re getting a little uncomfortable today. You’re probably looking at the title and thinking, “Well, that’s not too bad, Jill. How is that uncomfortable?” It can be, because today I am challenging your belief system on the topic of givers and takers.

Through personal stories and experiences, I demonstrate in this episode the many ways we can show up as givers and takers. It’s not always cut and dry, but most of the time is much deeper than that. We’ll talk about “taker mentality,” guilt friendships, enabling through serving, and more that is intended to open you up on this topic and to consider who you show up as in different situations. I’m inviting you to think about it this way. It doesn’t mean I’m right. I am inviting you to try this on and sit with it for a while. And I hope you take a moment to let me know how you feel.
