Be Calm on Ahway Island Bedtime Stories

Oscar Oven has a feature that he’s never used, and imagines all sorts of dishes he can cook.

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:19

Oven Imagination Excerpt:

The Parker family’s cozy kitchen was a warm and inviting space, with afternoon sunlight streaming through the blinds and casting soft shadows on the countertops. The walls were painted a cheerful yellow, and the cabinets were a warm cherry wood. Various items, including a fruit bowl, a stack of mail, and a few cooking utensils sat on the countertops. Billy was preparing to head outside to rollerblade. He donned his helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads, carefully making sure that everything was properly secured. Emily preferred to stay inside and draw. She grabbed a handful of colored pencils and settled in at the kitchen counter, leaning over her sketchbook with a look of intense concentration. Meanwhile, Mr. Parker sat at the counter with his laptop open, typing away as he answered some emails. The gentle hum of the refrigerator could be heard in the background. All in all, it was a peaceful and quiet afternoon.

Oscar Oven had been feeling a bit bored lately. He had been sitting in the Parker family kitchen for hours alone, while the family was away at work or school. Now, as he watched the family go about their afternoon activities, Oscar longed to have his burners and oven put to use to make something delicious for the family to enjoy.

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 9:12

Bridge Building Excerpt:

Ronald the roller heard the sound of rain pitter pattering on his roof. The steam roller hoped that today he would join the construction crew at the bridge site. Ronald’s garage door rolled up and he rolled out to wait for the contractor with the other vehicles. Danny and Dory laughed as they splashed each other wiping the rain from their windshields. Ronald rolled up next to Dizzy the concrete mixer. She was already spinning. “Good morning Ronald! Are you coming with us today? I hope so, I’m having so much fun making this bridge I can’t wait for you to help out too.”

Ronald replied, “I hope so too. I’d really like to help.”

Ellie the excavator smiled at Ronald and said, “It must be difficult to wait.”

Connor the crane added, “Don’t worry Ronald. I’m sure you’ll be joining us soon. Even if it’s not today.”

334. Clumsy Kitty: a calming meditation and story

Grubby is a clumsy kitty, but a sweet one. As he investigates everyone’s activities, Grubby makes a bit of a mess. It’s a relief to all when he settles in for a nap.

Hello everyone! We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Clumsy Kitty” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 10:10

Clumsy Kitty Excerpt:

The gentle rhythm of rain tapped on the roof as the chocolate and cream-colored kitty stared outside. Grubby’s bright blue eyes changed focus from the rain drops trickling off the leaves of the trees to the bright petals of the flowers. Water dripped down the window. The sweet kitty took a deep breath, in and out hoping the plants were enjoying their healthy drink of water. Grubby hoped everyone was sheltered from the rain in a nice cozy spot. Then the little kitty stretched and hopped off the ledge. It was time to explore.

Grubby sprinted down the hall to see what his family was up to. As he passed the study, he heard the squeak of a desk chair. Grubby stopped and tip toed into the room. Dad was looking at something on the desk. The chocolate and cream-colored kitty felt curious. So, Grubby sprang up onto a chair to have a look. The blue-eyed kitty could see there were papers on the table, and wondered what Dad was looking at. Grubby decided to get a closer look. The blue-eyed kitty leapt from the chair onto the table. Grubby landed on the pile of papers. The papers slipped beneath Grubby and, with his momentum, the kitty slid right past Dad and off of the table.

Today’s Meditation: Feel your body fill with warmth and love as you send your loving energy to the world.
