Podcast Q&A

Why did you start this show?

We started Back To The Blockbuster because myself and my buddy loved talking about movies and we thought that maybe listeners out there might like what we had to say about them. That was the inspiration for the show but it did change a bit ahead of launch to focus on breaking down the latest in industry news. After our first year, we started a spinoff within the show called BTTB Presents: Deep Dives With Owen & Gaius that put a focus on individual films so now the show is the best of both worlds

What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?

We hope listeners gain some movie, entertainment, and industry knowledge that they may not have known before. We also hope that they laugh and goof off with us because we try to make all of this really fun for everyone that listens. In the case of our Deep Dive spinoff, we hope that we can get you all familiar with some lesser-known films that deserve a bit more attention.

Which episode should someone start with?

From our main show, I would say our recent Scream VI episode, our 80th, is a good one to start with because you get to hear the main hosts (Gaius and Jackson) and it also features special guests which is something we have done a few times on the podcast. In the case of the BTTB Presents spinoff, Episode 4 - Better Luck Tomorrow or Episode 3 - Killing Them Softly are good first listens but honestly they all showcase great banter between the hosts (Gaius and Owen).

Which have been your favourite episodes so far?

Really liked our episode on The Batman, it's one of our best-performing episodes as well. The one-year anniversary episode is also a highlight because it was a showcase of how two friends came together to start something because they loved talking about movies together.

Which episode are you most proud of?

Most proud of our one-year anniversary episode because our co-host Owen, who started the podcast with us, took a leave of absence and it was his first episode back in months. Doing that one-year celebration actually inspired the creation of the spinoff so we could get him back on.

What is your vision for your show?

We just want it to grow and get bigger. We're looking to transition into YouTube as well so that's the next logical step so we can also have a video presence as well. Would also love to have more guests on that inspire us in the industry.

What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?

The Cultworthy Podcast and So Wizard Podcast. We're inspired by their drive, their dedication, and their desire to keep getting better even though they have been doing it a while.

How did you come up with the name for your podcast?

It was a play on Blockbuster Video from back in the day and just our love for movies.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Gaius - works in the industry as press. He's a news editor for a couple of entertainment websites and he runs G_reelz, a movie Instagram page with 107K followers currently. Owen - Has known Gaius for a little over three years and they became fast friends, especially after talking movies. He's the casual voice on the show. Voice of the audience member. Jackson - Met virtually when we needed a new co-host and he joined without missing a beat. Great personality and simply loves all things movies.
