How To Get In The Habit Of Writing Every Day

01/02/23 • 56 min

Artistic Spirit

Welcome, I’m Katie Moran an author, poet, advocate, speaker, creativity coach and social entrepreneur. This is the Artistic Spirit Podcast, your place to understand artistry. I’m here with MJ Coppola! MJ is an author, poet. creative warrioress coach, and podcaster. She hosts the podcast Mirrored Wellness.

We are hosting a 30 day creative sprint in our discord community, Creativille. MJ discusses how her first poetry book came out of the momentum she gained during a creative sprint. She credits her writing momentum to the first sprint she was a part of. If you are looking to gain momentum in your writing, we’d love to have you join our 30 day here.

MJ has been on an AI art journey. She utlizes it as a technique to hold space and prompt writing on the projects she is exploring. You can find her AI images on her social media accounts where she shares these prompts with the world. She calls this process a way of exploring and honoring her inspiration. You can find the software she mentions here.

MJ and I run a RNTKY: Suicide Prevention discord server and host a mental health Twitter Space every Saturday 12pm EST. It’s a community that’s a safe space for mindful mental health, gratitude, and self-discovery. If you are looking to find more gratitude and a supportive community, you can join here.

“...I’ve realized just showing up means a lot” -MJ Coppola

MJ shows up to her writing session where she holds space every Saturday from 10:30am-11:30am EST. It’s a silent coworking session. I attend on Saturdays and write with her for that hour. It’s on google meet. I like to describe the energy as the feeling of a warm hug. To me, it feels like sacred time and sacred space to create. You can learn more by joining her Facebook group: Well-Rounded Writing Support and Accountability Group..

We talk about the importance of taking action on your dreams today and not waiting for “that thing” to happen to begin. Do it today! It starts with small action and that’s what shows you that your dream is possible. Learn skills today that will help you tomorrow. The only thing impractical about dreams, is if you wait to take action on them.

Here’s your reminder: momentum is contagious. The momentum you build for yourself can be shared with others. Being around a community of people focused on building momentum is powerful and contagious!

Here are three reasons to join our creative sprint on discord:

  1. To be in community with people who share your interests
  2. You’ll find pieces of yourself and your creativity that’s dormant
  3. Explore creativity in a safe space with other people

You can connect with MJ here.

Listen To This If You Feel Like You Don't Belong

Do you feel like you don’t belong? I’ve felt this way too. I’m Katie Moran- an author, poet, advocate, speaker, creativity coach, and social entrepreneur. This is my podcast Artistic Spirit, your place to understand artistry. I’ve felt like I don’t belong before and so has my guest today, Abby Duran. Abby Duran is a poet and spoken word artist out of Charleston, South Carolina. Through the power of writing, she overcomes displacement and depression. She’s also the brain behind the writing service and global storytelling platform, VeraNation.

We discuss overcoming suicidal ideation and what makes life worth living- a quest every person must live for themselves. We talk about the importance of not putting anyone on a pedestal, including ourselves or a future version of ourselves. Don’t wait for the perfect version of yourself to feel that your life is worth living, Decide right now that your life IS worth living, because it is. Don’t fear asking for help. Abby labels “love” as the one emotion she would bottle up and give to people if she could.

If you feel alone, here’s your reminder that you are not a burden. Your suffering isn’t selfish. I run a RNTKY: Suicide Prevention discord server and host a mental health Twitter Space every Saturday 12pm EST. It’s a community that’s a safe space for mindful mental health, gratitude, and self-discovery. If you are looking to find more gratitude, a supportive community, and to join our self-love challenge- you can join here.
