Give Yourself The Love You Deserve
Artistic Spirit
04/28/22 • 58 min
I’m Katie Moran and this is the Artistic Spirit Podcast- your place for art, mental health, and spirituality. I’m here with Ryan Spence- a life and weight loss coach. He’s lost 130 pounds and has kept it off for 13 years. Now he’s helping others. He’s coached me and has changed my life. He’s helped me become more confident, with an audible difference in my voice.
Ryan talks about how he lost 130 pounds with small habits and sustainable change to keep it off for 13 years. Now he is on a mission to coach others through the process of self-love and sustainable change. Ryan has taught me how to accept myself as I am and how to become more confident.
Tips from Ryan
- Start with small habits- they make a big difference
- Don’t wait until you hit your goal to be happy
- Do the things you say you will do and confidence will follow
- Work with a coach or therapist to build confidence
- Look for moments where you feel aligned
Ryan suggests everyone finds out their love language and gives themselves self-love in their love language. We recognize and prefer love in certain ways. We can use this to our benefit to show ourselves the love we deserve.
Emotional eating is when we self-soothe through eating. We eat to feel better, but it may not be a form of self-care or self-love. Ryan recommends working through emotions with a coach and finding the root causes of the emotions that condition bad habits. For emotional eating, he also suggests writing down what you eat and the emotions you feel when you eat to bring awareness to your habits.
Reminders from Ryan
- Someone else’s truth doesn’t have to become your truth
- We are in charge of how we feel
- You deserve your own love
- Change is not about all or nothing
- You can choose to make change sustainable
- It’s okay if the change takes awhile
- You can change one habit at a time

Stop Living With Emotional Trauma! How To Start Healing
Artistic Spirit
01/20/22 • 61 min
I’m Katie Moran- an author, poet, advocate, creativity coach, and social entrepreneur. I am a sexual assault survivor and have PTSD from the experience. This is the Artistic Spirit Podcast, your place for art, mental health, and spirituality. Arame Ndoye is a podcaster, a life coach trained in Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), an author, holistic healer, and speaker. She has found healing from a history of sexual trauma and now coaches other survivors to their own path of healing. Arame has reminders for anyone who has experienced feelings of worthlessness due to past trauma.
Arame’s reminders for you:
- Know feelings of worthlessness are not true
- Change your own inner dialogue- tell yourself you are worthy
- Intentionally escape negative feelings that are overwhelming
- Boundaries come with practice: have self-compassion
- Know what your boundaries are and then communicate them
- Boundaries come from the place of deciding what’s right for you
- You don’t need anybody’s permission to take your power back
Arame makes it very clear that if you are healing from feeling unworthy from experiencing trauma, that your inner dialogue matters and feelings are worthlessness are not true. You are inherently worthy of healthy experiences and self-protection through boundaries. Arame recommends for anyone feeling emotional pain to ask yourself: “where do I feel this in my body,” to have more compassion with yourself; this practice was life-changing for me. This allows for you to reframe your negative self-talk. You have the power within yourself to reignite feelings of safety, because you are worthy of feeling safe inside your own body.
Arame’s tips for putting yourself out there online:
- Post even with the fear of putting yourself out there
- Change your narrative about putting yourself out there- you will get what you think
- Tell yourself you are excited instead of nervous
- Just start, even if it’s small
- Don’t wait for everything to be perfect
- Make it an intention to post consistently with a frequency that is right for you

You can learn more by joining her Facebook group: Well-Rounded Writing Support and Accountability Group..
We talk about the importance of taking action on your dreams today and not waiting for “that thing” to happen to begin. Do it today! It starts with small action and that’s what shows you that your dream is possible. Learn skills today that will help you tomorrow. The only thing impractical about dreams, is if you wait to take action on them.
Here’s your reminder: momentum is contagious. The momentum you build for yourself can be shared with others. Being around a community of people focused on building momentum is powerful and contagious!
Here are three reasons to join our creative sprint on discord:
- To be in community with people who share your interests
- You’ll find pieces of yourself and your creativity that’s dormant
- Explore creativity in a safe space with other people
