Artistic Spirit

Hello, I’m Katie Moran an author, poet, advocate, creativity coach, and social entrepreneur. This is the Artistic Spirit Podcast, your place for art, mental health, and spirituality. This is Artistic Spirit’s most powerful episode. I’m here with Sharon Valenti- a serial entrepreneur, coach, and trainer. She is the founder of Sharon’s.club

Sharon discusses overcoming limiting beliefs and sexual abuse as well as trauma recovery. She talks about how abuse cycles and patterns are conditioned and how you can heal from them.

You can become the person you need. You can give yourself the love you deserve. You can heal and form new beliefs about yourself that empower you and reframe the limiting self-beliefs formed from traumatic experiences or abuse. You can accept yourself the way you are.

Here are reminders from Sharon

  • You create your reality
  • Take full responsibility for your life and what happens
  • Let go of beliefs about yourself you formed from traumatic experiences
  • You can accept what happens in your life by living in the moment
  • Show up as you

If you are struggling with self-confidence and limiting beliefs, look in the mirror, affirm yourself, and watch what comes up for you. Reframe any negativity that comes up with courage. Lift yourself up.

If you are suicidal now, please call an emergency suicide prevention line in your area for help. If you are looking for reasons not to kill yourself watch my suicide prevention video here.

Stop Comparing Yourself & Start to Prioritize Your Mental Health

I’m Katie Moran- an author, poet, advocate, creativity coach, and social entrepreneur. I am a sexual assault survivor and have PTSD from the experience. This is the Artistic Spirit Podcast, your place for art, mental health, and spirituality. This episode is with Leah Jones- an author, poet, and mental health advocate. Her first book was a collection of poetry on mental health titled “Semi Colon;: Poetry To Take You Through a Journey Through Mental Health Awareness” and her second book on mental health awareness and workplace stress titled “Listen!”

Leah started writing poetry as an outlet for healing. She recommends writing poetry or a gratitude list as a healthy coping mechanism and to overcome self-harm.

“I really do think that my poetry saved my life. And I want it to save other people's lives.” -Leah Jones

Here are some reminders from Leah:

  • Your mental health and well-being are your priority
  • Don’t compare yourself to edited photos on social media
  • Point out the things you love about yourself
  • Know the signs of when someone needs help and don’t be afraid to ask if someone you love is suicidal
  • No job is worth your mental health
  • Speak up when you are being bullied

If you have a goal to self-publish on Amazon, Leah suggests finding a supportive community, looking for instructions on Amazon, and googling any questions you have.

Give Yourself The Love You Deserve

I’m Katie Moran and this is the Artistic Spirit Podcast- your place for art, mental health, and spirituality. I’m here with Ryan Spence- a life and weight loss coach. He’s lost 130 pounds and has kept it off for 13 years. Now he’s helping others. He’s coached me and has changed my life. He’s helped me become more confident, with an audible difference in my voice.

Ryan talks about how he lost 130 pounds with small habits and sustainable change to keep it off for 13 years. Now he is on a mission to coach others through the process of self-love and sustainable change. Ryan has taught me how to accept myself as I am and how to become more confident.

Tips from Ryan

  • Start with small habits- they make a big difference
  • Don’t wait until you hit your goal to be happy
  • Do the things you say you will do and confidence will follow
  • Work with a coach or therapist to build confidence
  • Look for moments where you feel aligned

Ryan suggests everyone finds out their love language and gives themselves self-love in their love language. We recognize and prefer love in certain ways. We can use this to our benefit to show ourselves the love we deserve.

Emotional eating is when we self-soothe through eating. We eat to feel better, but it may not be a form of self-care or self-love. Ryan recommends working through emotions with a coach and finding the root causes of the emotions that condition bad habits. For emotional eating, he also suggests writing down what you eat and the emotions you feel when you eat to bring awareness to your habits.

Reminders from Ryan

  • Someone else’s truth doesn’t have to become your truth
  • We are in charge of how we feel
  • You deserve your own love
  • Change is not about all or nothing
  • You can choose to make change sustainable
  • It’s okay if the change takes awhile
  • You can change one habit at a time
