And That's Okay! Lisa Rena Scott

You know, those moments when you’re feeling amazing, everything’s going your way, but the people around you aren’t quite on the same wavelength? So what do you do? You pull back, dim your light, maybe even hide your joy, all because you don’t want to make others uncomfortable. Sound familiar?
Well, today, we’re here to talk about why you should never dim your light for anyone. It’s time to shine bright—and that's okay!
ACTION STEPS
Step 1: Celebrate yourself, fully.
The next time you accomplish something, celebrate it. Share it with your friends, family, or even on social media.

Step 2: Set boundaries.
Protect your light. If someone starts pulling you down, remember that their feelings aren’t your responsibility.

Step 3: Lift others while you shine.
One of the best ways to avoid feeling guilty about shining bright is to lift others while you do.

Step 4: Fuel your energy.
Make sure you’re doing things that keep your light burning bright.

And That's Okay! Navigating Grief

Grief is complicated. It’s this strange, invisible weight that can feel unbearably heavy at times.
You might find yourself struggling to get out of bed, or maybe you’re functioning on autopilot, just trying to get through the day.
Some days, the pain feels far away, almost as though you’ve come to terms with it. Then out of nowhere, it hits you all over again. These ups and downs are part of the process ... And That’s Okay!
ACTION STEPS

  1. Create a Grief Journal: Give yourself space to process your emotions by writing them down.
  2. Designate a Sacred Space: Create a spot in your home to honor your loved one and spend time with their memory.
  3. Speak Their Name: Keep their presence alive by sharing stories and speaking their name.
  4. Move with Intention: Release tension from your body with gentle movement like walking or stretching.

And That's Okay! You Occasionally Struggle with Asking for Help

If you've ever felt uncomfortable reaching out or admitting you need a hand, you're not alone...and that’s okay! This episode is about validating those feelings, understanding why they come up, and finding simple ways to make asking for help feel a little more approachable.

Let’s start by acknowledging a common experience: We feel like we should be able to handle everything on our own. Many of us grow up with the belief that strength means independence, that we shouldn’t "burden" others with our needs. But the truth is, being human means sometimes needing support. No one is meant to do it all alone.
ACTION STEPS:
Start Small
: Ease into asking for help by beginning with small, low-stakes requests. This will gradually build your comfort with leaning on others.

Acknowledge the Benefits: Reflect on how asking for help positively impacts both you and the person assisting you. Notice the time, energy, and stress you save by sharing the load.

Be Direct and Specific: When you ask for help, make your request clear and specific. This clarity makes it easier for others to step in confidently and effectively.

Reframe Asking for Help as Self-Care: Remind yourself that seeking support is a form of self-care, just like taking time to rest or set boundaries. It’s a productive choice that promotes balance and prevents burnout.

Build a Support Network: Cultivate relationships with people you trust so you can comfortably reach out when needed. Having a go-to support network makes asking for help feel more natural.
