Here we focus on the breath while allowing our thoughts and emotions to exist without engaging with them. This gives us a mental breath...a space to relax, even on the toughest days. This is one of the hardest things to do, so be gentle with yourself and you learn not to engage with every thought or emotion.

The sight and sound of a roaring fire can create a relaxing and comforting ambiance. It can be a great way to unwind and enjoy a rainy evening indoors. Many people find the presence of a fire soothing and stress-relieving. Watching the flames dance can be a form of meditation and relaxation, along with the white noise effect of a windy storm.
This hour long background sound can be used as a sound barrier in headphones when traveling or when you are journaling.

Body Scan Meditation
Anarinya
05/30/23 • 12 min
Body scan meditation is a mindfulness practice that involves systematically bringing attention to different parts of the body, from head to toe, in order to cultivate present-moment awareness and relaxation. This practice offers several benefits for both the mind and body. Here are some of the key benefits of body scan meditation:
- Relaxation and stress reduction: Body scan meditation helps promote deep relaxation by consciously releasing tension and stress held in various parts of the body. By systematically scanning each area, you can identify areas of tension and consciously relax them, leading to an overall sense of calm and relaxation.
- Increased body awareness: Through the practice of body scan meditation, you develop a heightened awareness of your physical body. This can help you become more attuned to bodily sensations, allowing you to recognize and address any discomfort or tension that may be present. Increased body awareness can also extend to your daily life, helping you notice and respond to physical cues more effectively.
- Mind-body connection: Body scan meditation enhances the connection between the mind and body. By bringing your attention to different body parts, you develop a deeper understanding of the interplay between your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. This awareness can help you recognize and address any physical manifestations of stress or emotions in your body.
- Improved concentration and focus: Engaging in body scan meditation requires sustained attention and concentration. By consistently practicing this technique, you strengthen your ability to focus and sustain attention, which can benefit other areas of your life that require concentration and mental clarity.
- Emotional regulation: Body scan meditation can assist in emotional regulation by fostering a greater understanding of how emotions manifest in the body. As you become more adept at identifying and sensing emotions in various parts of your body, you can learn to respond to them skillfully and manage them in a healthier way.
- Enhanced self-care: Taking the time to engage in body scan meditation is an act of self-care. It allows you to pause, tune in to your body, and give yourself the attention and care you need. Regular practice of body scan meditation can promote a greater sense of self-compassion and self-nurturing.
- Mindfulness and present-moment awareness: Body scan meditation is a mindfulness practice that cultivates present-moment awareness. As you systematically scan each body part, you are encouraged to bring non-judgmental attention to the sensations and experiences as they arise. This practice helps you develop a state of mindfulness, where you can fully experience the present moment without being caught up in thoughts of the past or future.
These are just a few of the benefits associated with body scan meditation. Regular practice can have a positive impact on overall well-being, promoting relaxation, self-awareness, and a greater sense of connection between the mind and body.

Forgiveness Meditation
Anarinya

Forgiveness is one of the hardest things we need to do. Sometimes, we need the reminder that forgiving someone is about us being able to move on and not about them at all.

Accepting kindness, not only from others, but from yourself, is repeated quite often in guided meditation practice because it's one of the hardest things we do. I learned early on when studying mindfulness that our brains are more likely to focus on the negatives and ignore the positives. It is likely because we perceive the positives as areas that are working so we focus on the negatives, or things we feel still need our focused attention. In addition, we have a problem with treating ourselves well. I'm hoping this meditation will allow you to give yourself some grace, even if it's just for a little while.
