Maybe It Was The Cheap Wine
All the Things with Jess Patz
03/02/23 • 28 min
Once upon a time there was an exhausted working mama of four who decided to unwind with a glass of cheap wine. One thing lead to another and that tired mom decided to record a podcast episode while unwinding too, which is what you have the pleasure of listening to right now. It may not be my typical fiery, motivational material, but I can promise you will laugh just as much as the last episode made you cry!
Im actually excited I got to share another side of me. The goofy, self deprecating, makes a fool of herself side. Even though we are all friends here if anyone has the urge to start calling me Jessman again... just no.
Raw, real, unplanned, and totally in the moment.

**TRIGGER WARNING** (This episode contains sensitive and emotional subject matter)
While I do share some real life struggles our family is currently navigating, I hope that overall you enjoy the realness of this episode. Life is not always sugar coated. It hardly ever is actually. Having to filter our fears and downplay our struggles does far more harm than good. We can still be incredibly grateful for our life, our families, our careers, while we express that things may be just friggin tough right now! Sometimes the world is a heavy place and we shouldn't have to carry that weight alone, or even more so we shouldn't feel like we are the only ones who've ever had to carry it.
I had something COMPLETELY different planed for this episode, but I couldn't fake it. I didn't want to actually. Thank you for letting me get some things off my chest and for not judging. Above all else, I hope that someone listening to this knows they aren't alone. I may not have all the answers (I hardly ever do actually), but I am always willing to listen if anyone just needs to talk.

As a true bravoholic and reality tv junky, I couldn't NOT talk about this situation. I mean even as a women who has been cheated on and survived toxic, abusive relationships, I had too many thoughts not to get them off my chest. If you aren't in the loop on all the Vanderpump Rules cheating drama that's okay I promise. At about 13:04 I share my thoughts on narcissistic abuse and how it hides in plain sight far more often than people realize.
Choosing to turn a setback into an epic COMEBACK with Mckenna Reitz!
All the Things with Jess Patz
04/06/23 • 42 min
Episode 10 brings my first guest who isn't biologically obligated to love me. My friend, McKenna Reitz is not only an inspiring Alopecia Warrior, but a TedX speaker, an AP Psych teacher, and just all around powerhouse of a human being! McKenna and I talk about what the early days of her hair loss journey were like and how far she has come since that original diagnosis. She shares that a turning point for her regarding her outlook was actually a quote from none other than the character Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, "The problem is not the problem itself. The problem is your attitude about the problem."
Whether you have ever personally experienced Alopecia or hair loss yourself, the lessons Mckenna shares will resonate with anyone who is or has overcome lifes lowest moments. Don't forget to connect with her on social media, check out her website, and get tickets to her Challenge Yourself: Coach + Leadership Summit coming up in May.

Finding love after an abusive, toxic, unhealthy relationship
All the Things with Jess Patz
03/30/23 • 34 min
I know its totally cringe and annoying to say, but I get this question a lot! "Jess, how did you find real love after your abusive marriage? Do you have any advice"? Ok, I am not love expert but I do have advice that I feel can absolutely help guide you to finding real, genuine, love again and not repeat that cycle of abuse. Spoiler alert... you have to do some work... annnnd it will most likely take more time than you want it to. Im a firm believer that love is out there for anyone who really wants it. Call me a hopeless romantic or delusional I don't care, you're not changing my mind. I believe it because I've experienced it first hand.
Did I make mistakes along the way? Yes. Did I have to kiss a few frogs to find my "prince charming"? Sure did. If you want love, you CAN and will find it. Just give yourself some grace along the way.
Working moms are superhuman
All the Things with Jess Patz
03/10/23 • 32 min
Being a mom is a super power in itself. Being a working mother, whether you work outside of the home or from home, that takes things to a whole other level! Finding the balance between the two can sometimes seem impossible. Why is it that as moms we judge ourselves so harshly if we aren't making HUGE strides in our careers? If we aren't climbing the ladder and crushing our goals at lighting speed, we convince ourselves that we are somehow falling behind. That ends now. Juggling mom life, home life, work life, and trying to find time for ourselves in between it all actually makes us even more qualified. It's high time we give ourselves the credit we deserve and learn to trust the process.
How to find your purpose?
All the Things with Jess Patz
02/16/23 • 28 min
We talk A LOT about about fulfilling your true purpose, but how do you even go about identifying what that is? Here, I break down some beginner steps to help do just that. As always we are pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones and continuing to get more comfortable outside of that cozy box.
No more boxes. You are meant for more!
All the Things with Jess Patz
02/12/23 • 30 min
Lets talk about comfort zones and how to bust right out of them! I promise you have a great, big, beautiful purpose waiting right outside of your comfort zone and the box it comes in. Even though stepping outside of that can be scary, it's also incredibly worth. No more letting fear control us or dictate our choices. If your goals and dreams don't scare you, then they aren't big enough. Learn to lean into that fear and let it excite you instead of stopping you dead in your tracks.
The episode that almost didn't get recorded...
All the Things with Jess Patz
02/10/23 • 41 min
Join my husband Kevin and I as we talk about everything from Lebron James breaking records, to being newlyweds with four kids, to almost not recording this episode at all because of a tough day. We do a deep dive into what it's like parenting teenagers who are working through trauma and PTSD. We also share what we've struggled with while adjusting to our new family dynamic and how focussing on our relationship as husband and wife being the foundations sets the tone for our family. Kevin and I share what our takeaways are from Lebron's inspiring career and how its actually more courageous to follow your purpose and go against the grain, than to simply do what everyone else says you should.
