Alder Hey Official - Distraction Technology in Treatment Rooms

Distraction Technology in Treatment Rooms

03/07/19 • 2 min

Alder Hey Official

330,000 children and young people are treated at Alder Hey each year but we have just a handful of rooms kitted out with the latest distraction technology allowing us to use an immersive person-centred approach to improve the well-being and comfort of patients.
Distraction technology – the use of 4D immersive projection, lighting effects and surround sound - is proven to reduce the use of sedation by 40%, meaning children are not exposed to unnecessary medicine and staff can see and treat more children.

Alder Hey Children's Charity thinks hospital staff should be able to use this technology with all of our young patients and so we raise funds to enable this. Listen to Sharon Clarke, Cardiac Physiologist explaining why this technology is so important.
