Reflecting on breakups can help us learn more about ourselves, and what we want in our future relationships. They allow us to move away from what is NOT for us, and closer to what IS. She plays the game “We’re Not Really Strangers, Break Up Edition” and is vulnerable in answering questions about her own breakup experiences.

- Picture you’re talking to your ex. Finish this sentence: “You hurt me, but thank you for ____”
- What was the biggest turning point in your dating life?

Childhood Trauma Series Pt 1 - What is Childhood Trauma? Do I Have Unresolved Trauma? How Do I Heal From Past Trauma? Getting In Touch With My Inner Child.
Affirmations for Black Girls

We can’t be afraid to talk about the things that are difficult. Healing takes time, and it requires us to be vulnerable. Sometimes that means diving into experiences that are not easy to relive or to talk about with others. We can keep our inner child safe, by standing up for her in this moment, and talking about what she went through.
Today’s episode is the first in a new series on Childhood Trauma. Tyra discusses what childhood trauma is, her own experience with it, and how we can learn to heal. This series will be difficult at times, but it is so important and so worth talking about.
Follow along as we talk more in-depth about this topic in future episodes!
This week’s Affirmation is: “I keep my inner-child safe by showing myself kindness, compassion and patience.”

407 | Time is a Thief—So Stop Acting Like It’s Unlimited. Slowing Down to Live Fully & Making Space for What Matters: Joy, People, and Connection
Affirmations for Black Girls
02/24/25 • 41 min
In today’s episode, Tyra dives into the power of slowing down and making time for what truly fills us up. We often get caught up in the hustle, rushing through tasks, goals, and deadlines, but we forget to live in the moment and connect with the people around us. Tyra opens up about how she’s been embracing the simple joys of life, from spending time with friends to practicing pottery, and reflects on how it's changed her perspective. From making time for meaningful relationships to recognizing that life is happening right now, Tyra encourages listeners to stop waiting for the "right time" and start prioritizing what matters most.
This week’s Affirmation is “ I make space for joy, connection, and the things that fill me up”
3 Biggest Takeaways from the episode
- Prioritize People, Not Tasks: The importance of treating friendships and connections as a priority instead of background noise. Tyra emphasizes that life is happening now, and waiting for the "right time" to nurture relationships only leads to missed moments.
- The Joy of Slowing Down: Tyra shares how slowing down, whether through pottery or spending quality time with loved ones, has helped her reconnect with what truly fills her up. It’s a reminder that not everything needs to be rushed to be worthwhile.
- Living in the Present: The realization that life is fleeting, and constantly rushing through tasks and goals can cause us to miss the meaningful moments that matter most. Tyra encourages listeners to stop waiting for the “perfect” time and live in the present.

Tyra came across an Instagram post that was highlighting Relationship Green Flags! We always put a special emphasis on red flags, but what if we focused on the positives? Yes, there are tons of relationship red flags we should watch out for, but what if we focused on finding the beauty in what we did want versus what we didn’t? Now, in this episode, Tyra isn't saying to forget about red flags, because they are important too, but that is only half of the story!
After listening to the episode, write down some relationship green flags you want to pay special attention to. What are some green flags you want to focus on in addition to the ones we talk about in the episode?
This week's Affirmation “I trust that I will make good choices in romantic relationships”
