Destigmatizing Psychedelics Through #thankyouplantmedicine | Jonathan Glazer & David Grillot ~ ATTMind 114
Adventures Through The Mind
01/31/20 • 74 min
David Grillot and Jonathan Glazer are the founders of #ThankYouPlantMedicine, a global wave of gratitude for happening on February 20, 2020.
They are on the show to both talk about the movement itself and respond to some of my criticisms. We speak about the possible risks of "coming out of the psychedelic closet", the potentially adverse outcomes of destigmatizing psychedelics too quickly, the importance of actualizing our psychedelic learning, and the problems of politicizing the psychedelic movement.

Breaking Convention | Multiple Guests ~ ATTMind 107
Adventures Through The Mind
09/27/19 • 58 min
"Breaking Convention is a biennial multidisciplinary conference on psychedelic consciousness, featuring more than 200 presenters from around the world." It takes place in London, England and is one of the largest psychedelic conferences in the world.
I was quasi-invited to speak (I was invited by a program curator, but wasn't an officially invited speaker) there this year. I decided I would try and harvest the opportunity to be amongst so many luminaries in the psychedelic field by catching as many short interviews as I could in my time there. I got 11. (also, my talk was recorded and they will eventually release it. Also, I do have a transcript that will also be released soon-ish)
Similar to what I did at OZORA Festival for ATTMind 100, I asked them all the same 4 questions:
- Who are you and what do you do?
- What is the most relevant consideration you are holding at this conference?
- What role do you see yourself playing in the psychedelic renaissance?
- What role, if any, do you see psychedelics playing in helping humanity respond to any of the many crises we are facing?
There are some nuances to each of these questions that are presented in the (quite long intro). If you would like to breeze through the intro, relevant bits are between 4:25 and 10:110, with the actual interviews starting at 11:55. Of course, please make an effort to watch/listen to the full intro if you are open to it (especially watch it cause I made something special in the intro just for this episode 😉 )

The Great Shamanic Debate | James Kent vs. Julian Palmer ~ ATTMind 68
Adventures Through The Mind
03/16/18 • 77 min
Have you ever experienced a psychedelic encounter with a plant spirit or an entity?
Have you ever experienced a spirit realm or being healed by a shaman? Have you ever felt as though you invoked some type of divination or noetic insight while on psychedelics? Have you ever wondered if any of that was real or just merely a hallucination?
The increasing popularity of using psychedelic substances within so-called shamanic ceremonies has introduced ideas and beliefs into the modern world that push conceptual limits of the rational mind. The rise of plant shamanism is a cultural force to be reckoned with and that which we encounter with shamanism feels urgent and real. Yet, however real the experiences with a shamanic encounter may feel, the question still remains: how real is it, really? I asked Julian Plamer and James Kent to come on the show to debate on this question: "What do you believe is the fundamental nature of that which arises within a psychedelic experiences, in particular regards to what is often called The Shamanic paradigm, including the existence of a spirit realm, encounters with plant spirits or entities and the capacity to invoke healing or divination within a psychedelic experiences by way of this paradigm?" It's a juicy one. Enjoy

The Psychedelic Dark Side: Cults, Psychosis & Delusional Ideation w/ James Kent ~ Ep. 58
Adventures Through The Mind
10/27/17 • 96 min
James Kent has been studying psychedelics for over twenty-five years. He was the editor of Psychedelic Illuminations Magazine, publisher of Trip Magazine, and founder of DoseNation.com. His book, Psychedelic Information Theory, is an examination of the physical processes behind psychedelic hallucination. His latest project is the final ten episodes of the DoseNation podcast, where he explores the darker side of psychedelics and the psychedelic community.
His 'Final Ten Episodes Of DoseNation' is an unapologetic and unbarred exploration of his questions criticisms, and exposures of the psychedelic culture from his 25 years of immersion and his first-hand experiences of psychosis, psychotic episodes, and even ketamine addiction.
I am happy to have him on the show to explore some of the themes of psychosis, psychotic episodes and delusional mania in the psychedelic community. This is not only because I consider them essential for the ongoing psychedelic discourse but because they have been personally impactful and helpful for myself.

The Psychedelic Origins of Life w/ Bruce Damer (part 1) ~ Ep. 49
Adventures Through The Mind
06/09/17 • 73 min
Episode Part 1/2
From the origins of life, through ancient human history, to the interplanetary future of humanity and everything in between. "Bruce Frederick Damer, Ph.D. (born 31 January 1962) is a Canadian-American multidisciplinary scientist, designer, and author. Dr. Bruce Damer collaborates with colleagues developing and testing a new model for the origin of life on Earth and in the design of spacecraft architectures to provide a viable path for expansion of human civilization beyond the Earth."
This man's resume is extensive and beautiful. From helping to lay the foundations for multi-user digital interfaces in the early 90s, to designing spaceships for NASA, to bringing forth what is "perhaps the first "end-to-end" model proposed for life's origins." Not only that but he is also a strong, public supporter of the counter-cultural movement. Once personal friends, with Terence McKenna, Bruce is an incredible story teller and has come on the show for this special 2 part episode to share the story of the origins of life on planet earth, from start dust through the primordial soup and first homo sapiens all the way to dropping LSD at transformational music festivals.

Cannabis & Spirituality w/ Stephen Gray ~ Ep 20
Adventures Through The Mind
12/14/15 • 62 min
Author Stephen Gray has been in the psychedelic scene since its inception and is still offering great work into the evolving psychedelic culture. Since the 60s he has been an explorer of spirituality and conciseness expansion with “spirit plants”.
He comes on the show to share stories of his journey with the Native American Church, the Santo Daime and other ayahuasca based religions, as well as his first ever LSD experience. We also explore a widely missed topic of consideration in the psychedelic discourse: Cannabis as an entheogen.

Why Our Sense of Connection Matters | Psychedelic Café 9
Adventures Through The Mind
07/15/22 • 118 min
WHY DOES OUR SENSE OF CONNECTION MATTER?
This is the central question that guides the conversation you will hear today, another session in our Psychedelic Café series, where we featured a curated selection of guests to explore how "whether or not we feel connected affects everything".
We also explore the neurobiological origins of our sense of connection/disconnection with each other and how that is wrapped up in personal and collective traumas; our sense of connection with nature and the consequences that our lack of it is having on our lives and all life on this planet; as well as strategies and pathways of increasing our sense of connection with ourselves, each other, and the natural world.
We also talk about connecting with spiritual energies and our dead loved ones; ancestry in general; the importance of being able to grieve together; and the value of learning to turn towards pain.
Our Guests for this Café are: Darcia Narvaez, Robert Gilman, Rita Bozi, Charley Wininger, Jean Robertson, Sky Otter, and Sam Gandy
Enjoy.
