Hip-Hop Hidden Gems is all about celebrating the music that has shaped a generation (or two). The show, hosted by TheMoJoKing & Willie Freeman (AKA Vision) will focus on the artforms undervalued and underappreciated. Each episode will be dedicated to a song that didn't receive it's proper shine upon its initial release. Mo and Willie will revisit each track, and discuss its strengths and weaknesses. They also will provide interesting tidbits of information about the songs and the artists behind the music.
For hardcore hip-hop fans HHHG will provide a sense of nastalgia.
For more modest fans HHHG may be a chance to learn something new.
But for all hip hop fans HHHG will be a celebration. Come party with us.
*HHHG will now be created in seasons, so each artist can be given the deep dive that their talent deserves.

Bad Band Great Song is a music critique show that explores what critique means and how it affects us... while also doing the thing. But it's primarily a show about Bad Bands who happen to have Great Songs. In each season we look at a collection of bands and some hallmark songs of theirs. We then, in each episode, tell the band's story, discuss the key song's creation and relevance, analyze and assess how the band may be considered bad, and finally, we declare that a song of theirs is great. And we defend that. Disagreement is encouraged.

HI FI WAY: The Making of You Am I is a three-part podcast series by Richard Kingsmill. It offers a revealing insight into the much loved Sydney band via their second album. Hi Fi Way was a bolt of lightning, created from adrenalin and gut instinct. Hailed as one of Australia's greatest albums, it also contained glimpses of a hidden story - a story of a frontman who was often "not comfortable in the skin he was in". The process behind You Am I's brilliance on this album happened so quickly it went largely unseen. The anxiety that accompanied that brilliance has gone largely unexplained.

Meeting Malkmus - a Pavement Podcast is an obsessive and exhaustive deep-dive into the songs of the seminal '90s indie rock band Pavement. Working in chronological order according to the date of release, your host jD, takes a song-by-song trip through the Stockton, California group's catalog, from their very first track - You're Killing Me - through their five full-length albums and EPs, including 1992 classic "Slanted & Enchanted," their 1994 breakthrough "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" and their 1999 swan song "Terror Twilight." In each episode, jD hyper-focuses on one song, describing its sound, deconstructing its lyrics and detailing its context, including cool stories from the band's heyday. The goal of the show is twofold: Fold #1: To help others fully appreciate the works of the world’s greatest indie rock band, and Fold #2: to someday, perhaps meet the podcast's namesake - Stephen Malkmus.

For generations, Ireland has had a culture and reputation for a good "sing song", be it the sorrow of a funeral, the the joy of a wedding, the roller-coaster build up and fall of a GAA match day, a pub lock in and everything in between.

While we may hear the same songs belted or butchered, we probably don't know the meaning of many of them.

In the podcast, I try to get an understanding of some of these songs, not only the the heavy hitters but some perhaps lesser known and personal favourites from folk ballads to rebel songs.

Hosted by Blake Murphy and Jake Goldsbie, Columbia House Party is your home for Riots and Black Parades, Cork Trees and Significant Others. At its worst, it will indulge in those forgotten records we all have lurking in our collection. All the while, it promises to provide the information, entertainment and self-deprecation you’ve come to expect from two of Toronto’s favourites. Welcome to our living mixtape.
