251. The Super Long Song Title Mixtape Draft
Reminiscent | A Pop Punk and Emo Music Podcast
11/26/21 • 79 min
If emo has taught us anything through the years, it’s to express ourselves; to be honest with ourselves and others, and do it in the most verbose and flamboyant way possible. Write a song about that girl. Hell, write a whole album. Say as much about that 2-week relationship as you possibly can. And you know what? Cram as many characters into that song title as you can while you’re at it...
This week we take a look back at our favorite songs whose names could barely fit into an OG tweet, with some taking as many as 3. Then we draft them to our team to see who can end up with the highest character count at the end.
Make sure to buy the new flash sheet here before they sell out!

247. Chap Stick, Chapped Lips, and Things Like Chemistry by Relient K
Reminiscent | A Pop Punk and Emo Music Podcast
10/29/21 • 51 min
The cart jumps off the rails immediately as we dive right into memories of our sophomore lockdown when we originally meant to talk about our junior trip to Six Flags, when we originally meant to talk about Relient K. Chap Stick... was easily one of our most played songs in high school, and the lyrics offer a really awesome glimpse into early 2000’s tech, which most of the listeners of this show I’m sure can relate to if they dig deep enough back into their brains. There are also some pretty gnarly theories about the actual meaning of the lyrics which we explore in addition to the great music video and the fine line that Relient K so gracefully danced between being a Christian and being a young man who lives in a very secular world.

245. The Fall Out Boy Draft
Reminiscent | A Pop Punk and Emo Music Podcast
10/15/21 • 54 min
We talk about Fall Out Boy a lot. Like, a LOT. And we have no plan of slowing down, or at least we didn’t until we realized while recording this episode that we’re kinda the biggest FOB casuals in the world. One more so than the other (take a guess).
This draft inspired lots of stories of some of our band’s first shows where we covered early Fall Out Boy songs, recording sessions that went tragically, Tom drops a hot steamy dumpy of a take like it was nothing, and we try to get to the bottom of “is Fall Out Boy emo”?

256. The New Year by Death Cab For Cutie
Reminiscent | A Pop Punk and Emo Music Podcast
12/31/21 • 52 min
With the new year upon us, we’ve decided to finally discuss the only song that has ever made sense to discuss on the last week of the year, The New Year by Death Cab For Cutie. Gibbard and the boys have an insane way of dragging your entire day into the gutter after just one verse of any of their songs, and The New Year holds no punches. If you’re looking to feel melanchonly and introspective as absolute hell at a New Year’s party that you didn’t want to go to in the first place, this song and video are for you.

Reminiscent | A Pop Punk and Emo Music Podcast
05/29/20 • 64 min
It’s no secret that teenagers feel feel every emotion with the intensity of a thousand suns. Maybe your mom took your PS1 away because you threw your pizza rolls at your little sister for telling your crush that you write her name over and over in your college ruled notebook, maybe you drank the last of your big brother’s Sunny D and he held you down and gave you charley horses until you cried, maybe your dad just told you your aunt is moving in and your band that’s “just about to make it big” has to practice at someone else’s house or break up, or maybe I’m just hella projecting right now. Either way, you’re mad. You’re PISSED! So you grab your blue 4GB iPod Mini and hit the road by foot, determined to leave your family AND this stupid town behind. What 10 songs are your bringing along with you? That’s the midnight anger walk mixtape draft....

172. Helena by My Chemical Romance
Reminiscent | A Pop Punk and Emo Music Podcast
05/22/20 • 48 min
Helena is one of those songs you need to listen to in your underwear on the kitchen floor as you feel the full force of gravity pulling you closer to the center of the Earth. Every millisecond of this song is packed with so much emotion it’s taken every bit of the 16 years we’ve had with it to feel the full weight of this tune.
This week the guys break down the music video scene for scene and do their best to appreciate every frame of it’s incredible story and performance. A lot went into the making of this video, and luckily the band and director Marc Webb documented a lot of the creative process and uploaded it to YouTube for fans to appreciate for years to come.

99. Erie, PA Scene Queens
Reminiscent | A Pop Punk and Emo Music Podcast
11/02/18 • 60 min
In the most reminiscent of Reminiscent episodes, and the final show before the rebrand, Tom, Pat, and Zach take a deep dive into what it was like growing up in a small town’s booming music scene in the early 2000s. Tight pants, straight hair, and infinite breakdowns ruled everything around their playful pop punk band, but they stuck with it for 5 years and have loads of stories to tell.

Reminiscent | A Pop Punk and Emo Music Podcast
06/15/18 • 36 min
The guys do a full breakdown of My Chemical Romances first huge hit, I'm Not Okay off of their second studio album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. The song holds a special place in the guys' hearts, and they give some insight as to where their lives were when they first heard it. The guys then decide to cast the theoretical movie on which the music video is based.
