Podcaster Q&A

Tell us about yourself – what is your background?

Once a Video Gamer Blogger and streamer - MrLuvvaLuvva took some time out of that to create a unique videogame podcast with Tomahawk & Cardinal Smith. We are three gaming friends who love playing games against one another. We are just 3 guys from Northern Ireland who love PlayStation & all things gaming.

Why did you get into podcasting?

We are three gamers 'of a certain age'. We remember the joys of couch co-op/multiplayer, we lived through screen-cheating, giving friends the 3rd party controller & employing a whole host of dirty tactics to ensure victory. Podcasting is one of the most personal ways of connecting with your audience; we want our show to be about the collective rather than just us. We believe Video Podcasting was the best way to deliver our content to everybody.

How did the idea for the show come about?

We wanted to create a modern show like GamesMaster or Games World and that is High Scores High Stakes is. If you remember those shows then welcome to the future! Over the course of 90-odd episodes we have refined our format; sure it was rough at the beginning as we ironed out the wrinkles but the core of High Scores High Stakes was to try an recreate the joy of playing games against your friends.... ...and trying to win!

What do you hope listeners take from the show?

We hope that our listeners enjoy the content first and foremost - we hope that it reignites a passion for gaming for fun (and winning) and that they are entertained by us. More than that though we hope that our listeners find themselves becoming a member of our community, surrounded by people who are all good craic, will support them & maybe even having games nights together. Our podcast maybe competitive but it is a friendly competition with the hope of building a strong, positive community.

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

There have been many challenges in the podcasting game. The first was just pressing publish on Episode 1 - that was not easy. Further to this we have had to improve ourselves as podcast hosts, improve the content and how we deliver it. Now the challenge is finding listeners and building that community around the podcast.

How can your listeners support your show?

We don't ask for money nor we have no merch to sell to you (maybe one day eh?) All we ask of listeners who want to support us is that they share the podcast with others who may enjoy it and engage with us on whatever social media they call home!

Any future plans that you'd like to share?

We are always planning on the future of the podcast - we are planning for Season 5 at the moment and it has the potential to be our biggest and best season yet! I don't want to give away anything just yet...
