Podcaster Q&A
Tell us about yourself – what is your background?
Hello folks! I'm Grant Nordine, GM for Game Master Monday! I am an award-winning actor, writer, and director. I've been performing for nearly 20 years primarily in the theater scene but have also worked as a puppeteer, voice actor, and vocalist. As a writer, I've worked in short story, poetry, lyrics for songs, music videos, and plays. Ultimately I just love good storytelling, which is what drew me to TTRPGs in the first place!
Why did you get into podcasting?
I joined a sports website which eventually morphed into a sports podcasting network. That's where I eventually learned I had a love and a knack for podcasting. I started getting into audio engineering, got really into script writing, and tried a lot of different things until I found my niche. Eventually, I launched "Grant Rants" to talk about whatever I wanted to do. And THAT idea eventually led to...
How did the idea for the show come about?
This show! I found TTRPG podcasts during the pandemic and became instantly hooked. What a cool vehicle to tell a story in! Problem was, I found myself being easily overwhelmed by how massive these shows could be. So I devised this show! A short story anthology if you will where you can start anywhere and hear a fun, contained story AND get to hear how a wide variety of TTRPGs are played. Especially wanted to give an audience to INDIE TTRPGs.
What do you hope listeners take from the show?
I hope listeners come away wanting to try the games we play for themselves, after hearing how much fun can be had while playing them. Our show tends to lean on comedy and the silly side, but ultimately our casts are all experienced performers and roleplayers who can absolutely surprise you at any time during the course of our one-shot adventures.
What's been the biggest challenge for you?
ADVERTISING. Getting eyes and ears on your show when you're the only one working to put it out there can be exhausting and overwhelming. I'm grateful that ANYONE listens to our show and we've worked really hard to build a great, tight-knit community. I hope we can continue to grow and people enjoy us enough to tell their friends what we're up to!
How can your listeners support your show?
The number one thing we need right now is people listening to and sharing us! Give us a try! If you like what we're doing, share our link on your favorite social media! Send a text to a friend! Leave us a positive review! We love making this show and we want to showcase our hard work to as man people as possible.
