No child is born mean or has the intention to hurt you. But what if they start yelling at you, and calling you the worst names because something you did or said made them mad?

How do you feel about them then? Hurt, not respected, angry?

Of course, it makes perfect sense. But once you calm down, you might regret some things you said in that heat of the moment. And even though you apologized, you feel ashamed it happened and you lost your calm.

If you know exactly what I’m talking about, then let’s dive in deeper.

Because there’s a way how you can set healthy boundaries and stay calm, even when your child is yelling at you.

It’s not ok for them to hurt you verbally/emotionally (or in any way, really).

But I don’t have to tell you that punishing them by doing the exact same thing and hurting them back emotionally doesn’t really teach them anything about how to express their anger without hurting others.

Ep 51: How To Heal Your Own Childhood Without Blaming Your Parents

Send us a text

Maybe you were not lucky enough to have a happy childhood. And maybe you did!

Either way, if you can’t help it and end up yelling at your kids frequently, the chances are high that something happened very early on in your life and you never healed the pain. And that’s what keeps jumping out at your kids when they cross your boundaries now.

How to start healing your pain without blaming your parents for it?

And if you are already mad with them because it was clearly their “fault”, how could that resentment NOT stand in your way of healing?

Because if you’re looking around for advice on how to be a calm parent, it means you deeply care about your kids and their wellbeing. And you don’t want them to grow up feeling your anger was their fault.

That’s why this journey is worth it.

And that’s why the relationship with your parents (whatever that is right now) should not stop you.

Let’s dive in...
