Your Mom™ - Ep. 44: "Tikkun Olam" - Yogi Roth pays tribute to his late mom on Mother's Day weekend

Ep. 44: "Tikkun Olam" - Yogi Roth pays tribute to his late mom on Mother's Day weekend

05/13/23 • 63 min

Your Mom™

Mother's Day is a time to celebrate moms, but we know for many people this holiday can also carry a sense of sadness, loneliness and nostalgia. In honor of anyone facing and grieving the loss of their own mom, Yogi Roth joins the show to pay tribute to his late mother, Devorah Channah Roth.

Yogi is an on-air college football analyst, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, and New York Times best-selling author. But in this conversation, he is a grateful son sharing some remarkable stories about the incredible woman who raised him.

Together with Ashley in Los Angeles, Yogi describes his mom's journey as the daughter of Holocaust survivors and how she lived and embraced the Hebrew term Tikkun Olam, which means "repair the world."

Yogi's words remind us that even if when a mother is no longer with us in a physical sense, her love and light can live on forever through her children.

When Yogi launched his first podcast LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS, his first guest was his mom. As you listen to this episode, which includes excerpts from that interview, we urge you to write down questions you have for your mom or someone close to you. And then call them.

A reminder you can watch this on our YouTube channel.

We hope you enjoy this touching conversation and may we all continue to do our part to help repair the world.

Ep. 43: Ashley's Mom in Paris

"A jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread—and Thou."

Ashley finally convinces her mom to sit down for an interview. All it took was a trip to Paris, an iconic backdrop and a bottle (or two) of Chablis.

We hope you enjoy this honest, affectionate, meandering mother-daughter conversation in which one thing is clear- the apple does not fall far from the tree.

Ep. 45: Raising Lisa McCaffrey

We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Mother's Day than by introducing you to Lisa's Mom, Betty Conroy, aka Big Mama, aka the Queen of Key Biscayne. She has a remarkable story and offers a poignant reminder that we can call reinvent ourselves throughout the course of our lifetime.

We hope you enjoy this conversation as it captures how a shared pain between a mother and daughter can evolve into a shared vulnerability and deeper appreciation for one another.

You can watch this episode on our YouTube page.

Our biggest thanks to Betty for being one of our first guests, and for raising a fierce, loving, beautiful woman who also happens to be one hell of a podcaster.
