Women & ADHD - Kate Moryoussef: EFT tapping for ADHD, anxiety & limiting beliefs

Kate Moryoussef: EFT tapping for ADHD, anxiety & limiting beliefs

02/26/21 • 58 min

Women & ADHD

Episode 17 with Kate Moryoussef.

“I feel less exhausted, less mentally drained, because I’m no longer constantly trying to figure out what’s wrong with me.”

Kate is a UK-based wellbeing & emotional freedom coach, host of The Ambitious Mum Podcast and a mother to four kids.

She’s passionate about helping people rediscover their confidence, wellbeing, creativity and clarity, while tapping into their expansive potential that may have been sat dormant for a long time.

By using Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping) she enables her clients to recognize what’s been holding them back and guides them to trust their inner connection and wisdom that’s been there all along. Kate works online using EFT with many ADHD and non-ADHD clients across the world.

Kate’s brothers were both diagnosed with ADHD when she was a child, but it was overlooked in her at the time. We talk about her journey of putting the pieces together, as well as how she discovered the Emotional Freedom Technique and tapping, and Kate explains how and why the physical act of tapping can be so helpful for our ADHD brains.

Yakini Pierce: ADHD families and cultivating positivity

Episode 16 with Yakini Pierce.

"I don't know if ADHD is connected to being an empath, but I just feel people. I feel their happiness, I feel their pain."

Yakini is a mom with ADHD who has two children, both with ADHD. She has an MBA and degrees in engineering and mass communications, but her strong passion is advocating for parents that have children with ADHD, parents and adults in general that have ADHD through her ADHD Love platform.

It was through advocating on her kids’ behalf that Yakini began to realize that she personally identified with a lot of their ADHD traits — both in her childhood and in adulthood — and ultimately she sought a diagnosis for herself.

Yakini also noticed that some of the online ADHD parenting communities she had joined were rife with stigma and negativity and even shame about their kids diagnoses, so she set out to foster a more positive, warm and empathetic community for parents with ADHD and parents of kids with ADHD.

We also talk about how many of the smartest, most thoughtful and perceptive voices in the front lines of the ADHD community belong to Black women!

Taucha Post: Yoga and Post-it® Notes

Episode 18 with Taucha Post.

"Whenever my boss asked to see me in his office, I would think, ‘That's it. I'm done. I've been found out. Better pack up my desk.’"

Taucha is a certified yoga teacher and registered speech therapist who teaches yoga to empower fellow ADHDers through breath, movement, and the occasional f-bomb. Taucha was diagnosed 3 years ago at the of 31, after listening to an episode of The Current on ADHD symptoms in women. Since then she has spent a lot of time figuring out what the heck that means to her.

Because we’re both instructors, we do talk a LOT about yoga and the philosophies behind the practice and why they’re so beneficial to ADHD brains. But we also dissect the differences between your public persona and your private persona when you have ADHD, and the sheer exhaustion of keeping up appearances of normalcy and competence when deep down you feel like a hot mess and a terrible person.
