Episode 57 with Gloria Joy Sherrod

"People look at me and think, 'You’re so calm.' And I’m like, 'It’s chaos in here.'"

Gloria is a licensed professional counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults. In addition to her counseling work, she also provides ADHD coaching services.

Gloria is passionate about advocating for equity in education, access to care, and ending mental health stigma.

We talk all about how to know whether it’s ADHD or something else entirely, as well as some of the stigmas around stimulant medications, and we also discuss her book, “Adulting with ADHD,” and her new documentary of the same name, which releases this week and tells the real-life stories of 5 adults navigating life with ADHD. Amy Brown: Sports, jokes & slow processing speed

Episode 56 with Amy Brown

"I have trouble remembering what I’ve read. I have to read the same paragraph over and over. It drives me nuts."

Amy is a Director of Outbound Transportation for Dollar Tree, where she’s responsible for shipping the company’s merchandise from their distribution centers to the company’s stores.

Amy & I talk about her experience with sports growing up — she was a Division 1 basketball player in college — and looking back she feels like athletics and an active lifestyle were so helpful in managing ADHD earlier in her life.

We also talk about slow processing speed, something quite common for those of us with ADHD, and the various ways in which we both experience it — including the agony of rarely getting other people’s jokes!
