The last time SoxFest was held, #rickyrenteria was the manager, #timanderson was presented the #hankaaron award and the energy and buzz about the #whitesox was palpable. 5 years later, they're on their 3rd manager since Renteria and the Sox are coming off of the worst season in #mlb history. And, now...the fan convention is back in a revamped format. The Q&A with GM #chrisgetz is unlikely to happen, so #guff and BA (#briananderson) answer the questions that YOU have or would ask management and others if given the opportunity.
Everything from the roster, #jerryreinsdorf, fan apathy, and when and if things will ever get better for a team that feels so far away.

On the first #whitesox REKAP Podcast of 2025, #guff & #kap sitdown with GM #chrisgetz in the REKAP studios. In a lengthy discussion, several topics are discussed. The guys start by the toll the 2024 season took after setting the record for the most losses in #mlb history. Guff asks Getz why fans should still believe and about Getz’s plan for the organization.
Getz is candid and meticulous in discussing how he’s changed the infrastructure of the White Sox, something fans don’t want to hear but is part of his long term plan and solution. They discuss #garrettcrochet and how Getz learned of the demand for a contract extension last season during the trade deadline as the Sox were trying to flip him. Was an extension ever really discussed?
His relationship with #jedhoyer and the #chicagocubs and if there’s a ‘Cubs tax’ on future trades. New manager #willvenable is discussed and why the Sox kept so much continuity on his staff.

SoxFest returned for the 1st time in 5 years to the Ramova Theatre in Bridgeport. #markbuehrle returned to news that a statue would be unveiled in July and it was the highlight of the Friday ceremonies. Most of the #whitesox top prospects were in attendance and #guff caught up with #colsonmontgomery #hagensmith #chasemeidroth & #bradenmontgomery. The group discussed their excitement about the future of the organization and how they’re motivated to change the last narrative of the organization. Guff discusses how they’re able to focus on the work they have to do to get to the big leagues rather than the goal itself. While the dark cloud of 2024 is present, this group discusses why they hope they’re part of the conversation that changes it.
