EP 7.5: Men's Health Week
White Line Podcast
06/17/21 • 41 min
Men's Health Week is an annual event in mid-June that presents a platform to recognise and discuss key issues relating to the outcomes of males and their health.
We saw this as a timely opportunity to discuss our experiences and learnings around this topic.
No planning. No structure. No preparation. Just hit record and get talking.
The general takeaway from this conversation was the importance of transforming physical and mental health from the elephant in the room to something that is comfortable to discuss and address.
We hope that you can find this a valuable and relatable listen.

EP 18: Mitch Ryan
White Line Podcast
10/19/22 • 90 min
On this episode, we are joined by an amazing human with an amazing story, great friend of the podcast, Mitch Ryan.
On October 12, 2002, Mitch and his Southport Sharks teammates were drinking in the Sari Club in Kuta, Bali, when a van laden with explosives, detonated just metres away from them.
Ryan, Cas and myself probably didn’t have a huge understanding of the Bali Bombings or the consequences it had on Australia for many, many years to follow. We were only 6 or 7 at the time so were certainly a bit ignorant of what actually happened.
Mitch disputes the fact that he’s a victim, pledging to take gratitude out of everything he can considering others in his vicinity weren’t so fortunate.
If this wasn’t already a bad enough hand to be dealt, Mitch lost his older brother, mentor and best mate in October 2020 to a freak accident while overseas. A lot of this podcast’s listeners would have known the great Jake Ryan in some capacity, and Mitch pays a beautiful homage to his brother.
Mitch is now in the business development and commercial side of proceedings at the Brisbane Lions, giving us an insight into how things work up at the Gabba.
He’s the father to Ted, with another one well on the way. As a matter of fact, his better half Sherry is due on November 12, but there’s a feeling the baby might be coming earlier, so during this recording Mitch was very aware of any phone notifications he received.
The best way to summarise this bloke, is that he’s a battler, who loves his family and mates, and would put anyone’s interests in front of his own. A truly great man.
We hope you enjoy the listen.
A heads up as well, there is some pretty heavy stuff discussed at times, and if anything has been triggering for you, there are some fantastic resources in the show notes. Also, a language warning for the next 90 minutes.

On this episode, we welcome Gold Coast-based jockey, Jag-Guthmann Chester.
The 2017/18 QLD Champion Apprentice has been in great form this year, consistently riding winners in South East Queensland to start 2022.
We discuss all sorts of stuff about his racing career and beyond - not being able to reach the top shelf at Maccas, the apprenticeship years, how weights and handicaps in racing work, the horse that kicked him in the guts, getting carjacked, racing against James McDonald, weight cuts, and so much more.
At the age of 23, Jag looks poised for a long and successful career in the saddle.
Thanks to the great man for his time.

EP 3: Jake Bailey
White Line Podcast
02/03/21 • 73 min
As far as inspirational stories go, they don't come much bigger than this. In 2015 in his grade twelve year, out of nowhere, Jake Bailey was diagnosed with with Stage 4 Burkitt's Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. This is a brutally aggressive form of cancer and essentially, if it went untreated any longer Jake had a matter of weeks to live.
Fast forward more than five years and Jake is an endurance sport beast. Amongst his athletic endavours, Jake is also a public speaker, charity ambassador, business owner and author.
This episode was recorded on January 27 2021, two days before Jake's 5 year remission from the cancer. He's a genuinely lovely fella with an amazing story to tell, and we know that you'll come to the end of this episode with a smile on your face and a greater appreciation for the little things that life has offer.
This is the White Line Podcast, episode 3, with Jake Bailey.

In this episode, we delve into the mind of a guy with a personal best marathon time of 2 hours and 44 minutes. We discuss his time at the Bolton Wanderers Academy as a teenager, limiting beliefs, visualisation, what it takes to run a sub-2:45 marathon and loads more. This guy is a superstar! He was a member of the QAFL Representative Squad in 2019, and took out the Demons Best & Fairest in this season of 2020.

EP 9: Georgia Miller
White Line Podcast
07/21/21 • 96 min
On this episode, we welcome an athlete who needs little introduction, professional IronWoman, Georgia Miller.
Georgia has done it all in the iron racing world, having ticked off wins in the Coolangatta Gold, Nutri Grain Series and World Championships.
Perhaps her most extraordinary achievement however, came in April this year at the Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships, where she took home gold in each of the nine events she competed in.
Now these aren’t just punters she’s competing against. These are some of the fittest, toughest female athletes in the world, yet she’s still dominating and remains at the top of her game.
Despite the extensive resume, we all came away from this chat thinking that Georgia Miller is a better person than she is athlete.
We discuss all aspects of her career, including her ability to find balance away from professional life, the brutality of the Coolie Gold, her work with the Manly Sea Eagles, her studies in nursing, and heaps more.
This was such a good chat and we can’t thank Georgia enough for being so generous with her time.
