Wellness by Designs - Practitioner Podcast - ENCORE: The Link Between Estrogen and Histamine with Steven Judge
play

01/05/23 • 42 min

I'm your host, Andrew Whitfield-Cook-Cook. In this Encore episode Steven Judge, a naturopath practising in Sydney, discusses the link between estrogen and histamine and how it affects gut health.
Steven learned about this link while studying to become a naturopath. He found that many women were presenting with excess estrogen symptoms caused by histamine intolerance. To resolve these symptoms, it is necessary to detoxify the body and support the gut.
"The issue isn't estrogen or histamine. They have jobs to do, which are very important. The issue is that the body is not handling it properly, and we're not getting it out right."
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. The link between estrogen and histamine and how they can impact each other in a vicious cycle
2. The difference between a conventional and naturopathic approach to treating histamine intolerance
3. The importance of detoxification in resolving histamine intolerance
About Steven:
Steven runs a private practice in Sydney which focuses on helping others to take control of their health and reclaim their power. Whether you’re experiencing digestive disorders such as IBS, anxiety, depression, PCOS, thyroid disorders, autoimmunity, or cardiovascular issues – Steven is there to simplify your path to health and wellness by getting to the root cause and treating each person as a unique individual.

Steven works in a kind and respectful way, taking into account the sensitive concerns that people may have with their health. He takes time listening to clients’ histories and evaluating the interactions among genetic, environmental, biochemical, emotional, spiritual and lifestyle factors that influence human health and chronic disease. This holistic assessment approach allows steven to provide integrative and individualised treatment plans so that we can experience true health-care, rather than simply disease management.

Whilst Steven sees a variety of presentations in clinic he has a special interest in chronic digestive disorders & mental health. With depression being one of the leading disabilities worldwide and chronic stress and anxiety plaguing millions of people, now more than ever we need to alleviate the burden of these national health priority areas by treating the whole person and addressing all underlying factors. Since experiencing my own healing through natural medicine I am driven to provide the same opportunity for my clients.

Wellness by Designs - Practitioner Podcast - Phyto-Estrogens in Menopause with Jen Harrington

Wellness by Designs - Practitioner Podcast

play

11/03/22 • 37 min

Joining us today is Jennifer Harrington, a Naturopath who specialises in helping women through their menopause experience chats to us about Phyto-Estrogens in Menopause - Enhancing Effectiveness for Better Outcomes.
In this episode, Jen discusses:

  • What phytoestrogens are
  • What role do they play in therapy
  • Why phytoestrogens often fail in larger clinical trials
  • How to prioritise phytoestrogens in therapy

About Jen:
Jennifer’s interest in natural therapies started when she was diagnosed with PCOS in her early twenties and was told she may struggle to ever have children.

Upon graduating from naturopathy, she moved to Thailand and started working at the famous “Chiva Som International Health Resort”. It was an amazing experience and an opportunity to rub shoulders with the best minds in the industry, both from a traditional and modern medical perspective.

Jennifer returned to Sydney in 2005 to become a mum. She is eternally grateful she found naturopathy and was able to have a child after all.

After working in various Sydney-based clinics and corporate health businesses, Jennifer decided it was time to open her own clinic in 2010. After advertising as a hormone specialist, she found she had more menopausal clients than fertility clients. Her menopausal clients' fast transformations made her rethink her work, and she started Menopause Natural Solutions in 2014. As the years rolled by, she sold her bricks and mortar clinic to free up more time to dedicate herself to researching and creating a better way to help more perimenopausal and menopausal women.

Wellness by Designs - Practitioner Podcast - ENCORE: Essential Insights into Gallbladder Function and Care with Amie Skilton
play

01/16/25 • 32 min

Enjoy this encore episode with Amie Skilton as she takes us on a deep dive into Gallbladder health.
This episode reveals why we are seeing a surge in gallbladder diseases and removals, particularly among younger individuals.
We discuss how your daily choices and environmental toxins may be putting your gallbladder at risk, and learn the surprising ways estrogen itself plays a pivotal role in gallbladder function. We connect the dots between gallbladder issues and broader health concerns like diabetes and liver disease, emphasizing the dire need for a shift in awareness to safeguard this vital organ.
Navigating the murky waters of gallbladder management, Amie tackles the array of treatments available for those facing gallbladder distress.
This episode goes beyond the quick fixes, shedding light on the deeper causes of gallbladder woes. We highlight that, often, the real solution lies in preventative care and early intervention—strategies that could spare you from the operating room and promote long-term well-being.
About Amie
Amie Skilton – is a functional medicine practitioner of almost 20 years and a well-known educator in naturopathic medicine. For over 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of appearing on conference stages, TV sets and – more recently – laptop screens via Zoom. In that time, I’ve had the honour of presenting more than a thousand keynotes to functional medicine practitioners, integrative GPs, holistic pharmacists and the general public.

In 2017, I had the plot twist of my life. I developed an environmentally-acquired illness (CIRS or ‘mould illness’) and, amongst other discoveries, realised my naturopathic, nutritional and herbal toolkit was only as valuable as my environment was healthy.

I’m now a qualified Mould Testing Technician and continue studying building biology and the various ways in which the built environment has a profound impact on human health. So my educational repertoire has expanded to include environmental health hazards and functional medicine strategies.
