Centering Our Community: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Valley
06/29/24 • 20 min
In celebration of Pride Month we recently sat down with Valley's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) managers Ada Cohen and Priyanka Choudhury to talk about initiatives and projects happening at Valley to make sure both our patients and workforce feel cared for.
In this episode we talk about:
- What EDI stands for and why we use EDI instead of DEI
- How we're celebrating Pride and some of the ways we celebrate diversity all year long
- Current projects that focus on Health Equity and why they are important
- How you can use a framework we use to bring equity into your work
As Ada states in this episode, "At first, talking about equity, diversity and inclusion can be uncomfortable, and that's not a bad thing! We're all on this journey together."
We couldn't agree more! If you are interested in seeing more examples of the equity diversity and inclusion work here at Valley, we encourage you to sign up for our monthly Community Cares newsletter for news and resources, and follow us on our social media:

Your social media pages may be telling you how important it is to prioritize "self care," but is it possible to achieve a sense of well-being when it feels like one more thing on an unmanageable to-do list? We sit down with Valley's Director of Well-Being, Dani Dutro, to talk about the small shifts you can make in your life that will make a big difference.
Topics we tackle include the value of radical acceptance, identifying burnout, and how to know when someone’s self-care “quick fix” may be too good to be true, plus how to find the willpower to take the first step in the right direction.
