A few weeks back, Patrick joked we should take the lore of Kingdom Hearts seriously, and record a podcast about it. Natalie also took Patrick’s dare seriously, and Austin couldn’t resist coming along for the ride. The result is Lore Reasons, a podcast series meant to be a one-off experiment that’s suddenly become own monster of its own. In the first episode, we attempt to talk through the entire Kingdom Hearts timeline, but over the course of nearly two hours, only make it past Birth By Sleep and the opening of Kingdom Hearts. Buckle up, folks.

Waypoint Radio - Episode 97: A Town Hall With My Liver
play

09/18/17 • 62 min

With Austin back from vacation, he joins Patrick and Rob to discuss his experience accidentally playing a fog game of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds with a complete stranger, resulting in Austin chasing down another player, ala Jason Voorhees. Elsewhere, Rob recounts this weekend's botched attempt to play a board game, thanks to a woeful misreading of a bottle's label, and what motivated Patrick to murder an entire bar in Dishonored 2: Death of the Outsider.

Waypoint Radio - Episode 294: Tom Nook's Timeshare
play

02/21/20 • 100 min

Grab your shovels and pack your bags because it’s (almost) time for Animal Crossing! Nintendo has dropped a new 25 minute(!) long direct detailing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Austin, Gita, and Cado are extremely excited to have a chill time on Nook's island. But first, the crew takes a quick trip to the Politics Corner to talk about the recent, absolutely bonkers Democratic debate. Cado played Wide Ocean, Big Jacket during the debate to help him calm down, a delightful game Patrick reviewed last week before he came down with the flu. Austin, Cado, and Patrick have also been checking out Corruption 2029, the not-as-flavorful follow up to 2018's Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.

Discussed: Politics 3:04, Wide Ocean Big Jacket 13:24, Corruption 2029 24:14, Animal Crossing Direct 42:13, Covet Fashion 1:22:11, Destiny 1:24:25, No Man's Sky 1:25:17

Waypoint Radio - Episode 96: The Legend of Asher Mir
play

09/15/17 • 61 min

With Austin and Danielle both on vacation, the ol’ Waypoint Radio microphones are only pointed at Patrick and Rob today. Fortunately, there’s plenty to talk about, as we work through our feelings on the campaign in Destiny 2, and whether Bungie should seriously consider ditching a “campaign” for Destiny 3, or whatever they call the next one. Elsewhere, we gush over the new Dishonored 2 add-on, Death of the Outsider, and answer a reader question about the best kinds of games to play when you don’t have much time to game.

Waypoint Radio - Waypoint 101 - Red Dead Redemption Part 2
play

11/01/18 • 117 min

In the second (and final) part of our Red Dead Redemption playthrough for Waypoint 101, we—ugh—survive the extremely long Mexico section of the game, and revisit the still-memorable finale and epilogue. Red Dead Redemption is a game that's aged weirdly in the eight years since its release, as Austin, Patrick, Natalie, and Rob discover over the nearly two hours spent picking apart the game's conclusion. Some things work, a lot of things don't, and much has changed since 2010. We also sneak in some talk about Undead Nightmare, the game's celebrated horror expansion.
