The song is an original work, based on the writings of Dr Jordan B Peterson, specifically Chapter 8 of his book "12 rules for life". Chapter 8 is titled Tell the truth, or at least lie. This topic heavily inspired the lyrics for "Rule 8", which are centred around modern politicians, and social media perception.
