Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall
Heather Darnall
This podcast is a way for people to dive deep into the Christian Bible with me as I read scripture verse-by-verse from various sections and break them down for a better understanding of the context. But moreover, to have a better relationship with Jesus. Additionally, I believe this podcast is a good starting point for anyone new to the Holy Bible, but is still good for anyone who is already well-versed.
Now, please take note that I'm not a scholar. I didn't go to seminary school, I don't have any sort of qualifications that would highlight myself as some kind of guru; I'm simply a seeker for the truth of God. He gives me what I need to make this podcast according to His liking since it's technically His podcast. Therefore, I'm just managing it to the best of my human ability.
But the main reason I started this podcast, is because first off, no one read the Bible to me growing up. Secondly, so often verses are taken out of context and rearranged for our self-will, or even thought as not applicable to us given the length of time that has passed when it was written. And when we do, or think like that by not seeking the full council of God, we're only going to feel lonely, misguided, even deceived.
Thus is why I wanted to take the advice of the apostle Paul when he wrote his letter to Timothy (2 Timothy 2:15) and told him, "do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." Pay attention to that key word there, "rightly." So that being said, hopefully you'll find this podcast helpful and insightful. Moreover, that you're continuously rooted in your faith while marching forward in life having more confidence in the Bible and what it's really saying to us as well as how we can make it applicable in our day-to-day lives.

How Can These Things Be?
Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall
02/13/24 • 65 min
In today's culture and society, especially with countless denominations out there, it can be super easy to misunderstand and/or be misinformed how one can enter into the Kingdom of God. One of the most trending ways people follow or believe, is that it's based off a works, or an achievement-type premises which unfortunately leads to spiritual death. Well Jesus wanted to tell us that our "works" don't work, that the one thing we must do is to be born again. Although there are several notations that support that "works don't work" within the Bible, this episode, however, is centered around an in-depth conversation between Jesus and a curious religious Pharisee named Nicodemus that I break down to the best of my knowledge. This scene takes place in the Gospel of John chapter 3:1-18 regarding being born again and what it entails of that also triggers his question to Jesus, "how can these things be?"
**MESSAGE NOTES UPDATE**
Not long after I published, I realized that I misspoke about a couple of things that I wanted to further specify and/or clear up. The first being that Nicodemus was not just familiar with the Old Testament, rather the former prophets of his time, too....so I did not specify and/or add that the Torah is not the only place in the Old Testament that speaks of or alludes to as far as the coming and/or arrival of Jesus when Nicodemus was reading and learning about who He is.
The second is when I mentioned that we are also descendants of Abraham, it is meant through Jesus Christ, thus making us a all believers through Abraham. Since I am not Jewish, I am a gentile - so anyone who is not of a Jewish heritage is a gentile, but everyone is a child of God no matter our nationality through our faith in Jesus.
Is Prayer Your Toy Or Your Tool?
Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall
04/09/24 • 66 min
Prayer can be such a touchy and/or sensitive topic due to the varying feelings and experiences many people have with it. However, many are convinced that a lot of scripture means exactly what it says without having a full understanding of the context. Therefore treating prayer more like a toy rather than an effective tool.
In this episode, I'm pulling a verse from the Gospel of John 14:14 that could immediately trigger an untrained reader to have the idea that scripture like this is meant to fulfill the desires of their hearts when there's so much more, as in on the contrary. Living with a misguided understanding about the true meaning of the context, is the starting point to a failing prayer life. This ultimately leaves the reader disappointed, even believing a variety of thoughts that Satan plants in our heads that Jesus doesn't care, we're worthless, we don't have enough faith, etc. All that said, is why I unpack this verse to it's fullest potential, so that anyone could have a fresh perspective and a reboot in their prayer life to be successful from here on out.
Please note that this is my personal interpretation of the scripture to the best of my current knowledge and understanding. I encourage anyone to please check and verify as the scripture encourages all believers to do so. There may be times where I have overlooked and/or misunderstood information by mistake which is why verifying is important if you feel lead by the Holy Spirit to do so.
Which Gate of Eternal Life Are You Headed Towards?
Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall
12/02/23 • 42 min
This episode dives deep into the meaning and interpretation of the narrow and wide gates given by the Gospel of Matthew 7:13-14. Since many people think a certain way and/or live their lives a certain way, they're convinced that they're automatically going to heaven but don't realize they're actually being deceived and heading toward eternal destruction in hell. This is a great way to take a hard look at ourselves and our future to see if we really are heading toward the narrow gate or the wide and broad gate instead.

Most of us are blessed to have a house to live in, but most of us also day dream of having a much bigger house, i.e. a mansion. Well, when we look into scripture, sadly, many people get excited and are banking on what Jesus said; believing that they're going to basically live in some sort of luxurious dwelling unit when we pass on.
In this episode, I'm going to discuss a couple of major talking points coming from the Gospel of John 14:1-7, with the first being what kind of dwelling unit, or mansion rather, that we'll actually live in. Which for some if could be rather exciting, while for others it could be rather disappointing. The other subject is the reason for that new "mansion," or dwelling unit, which leads into the next scheduled episode regarding the rapture, being the next event on the prophetic calendar, so stay tuned!
Please note that this is my personal interpretation of the scripture to the best of my current knowledge and understanding. In a world that is evident to be falling a part, many wonder how it ever got to this state to begin with, just scratching their heads and wondering if God is really in control or not, especially with such evil being vamped up. As we all know, everything has a beginning and an end, and so in this episode, we're going to discuss the beginning of everything that was never intended to happen which comes from the Gospel of Matthew 4:1-11.

The Art of Judging
Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall
09/19/24 • 61 min
It should come to no surprise that judging is still a major issue people deal with today. And what we don't like to admit is, that we tend to feel like we're not guilty - or as guilty - as everyone else...as if that makes us better than the next person, therefore we don't really need addressing, or fixing rather.
In this episode, I'm going to get into the weeds concerning one of the things Jesus talked about in His sermon on the mount, which is judging - and will read from the Gospel of Matthew 7:1-6. Because far too often, we take what He said and put it into our own desired interpretation, i.e. our human opinion. Therefore, we misrepresent our King and any misrepresentation is all that the devil desires to keep us away from Jesus and continue to struggle in our sin. That being said, it's in all of our best interest to see if we can adhere to this artful skill that so many look down on, when sadly, we don't fully understand that judging itself is not the problem - we are.
Please note that this is my personal interpretation of the scripture to the best of my current knowledge and understanding. I encourage to please check and verify as the scripture encourages all believers to do. The Art of Judging
Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall
12/13/23 • 49 min
Today's society and culture is really no different than when Jesus was here or even before! And one of the problems Jesus addressed was judging - in which this episode goes in-depth discussing the Gospel of Matthew, 7:1-6 - and unfortunately is something we all still struggle with regardless if it's just a thought in our head or boldly shouted at our lungs capacity. Moreover, the biggest issue He addressed, was not necessarily the fact that we judge, it's the way that we judge, and how we tend to deny that we judge at all! So this message is something to dive deeper into the context of what Jesus was saying and how it can be done appropriately. In other words, due to the touchy nature of the topic, there is an art to judging.
That said, it's in all of our best interest to see if we can adhere to this artful skill that so many look down on when sadly they don't fully understand that judging is not the problem - WE ARE. Please note that this is my personal interpretation of the scripture to the best of my current knowledge and understanding. Is Your Spiritual Awareness Legit Or a Sham?
Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall
12/30/23 • 57 min
Today's society and culture centers around "spirituality," however, many are deceived on it being a good thing, or something needed for peaceful living among other things. While living peaceful sounds like common sense and the right thing to do for a number of reasons, we often misunderstand the playing fields and and fall into a deadly trap of various activities we think are fine, fun, even innocent. These typically include common practices such as horoscopes, astrology, crystals, etc. leaving the urgency for us to stop and ask ourselves if our spiritual awareness is legit or a sham.
FYI - the very last couple of minutes you may notice my voice improved...it did....I couldn't finish the last few minutes unfortunately because my voice was getting irritated since I was still not 100% so I waited until I got well to finish it off.
Does The Bible Teach a Flat Earth?
Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall
10/17/24 • 97 min
In today's modern era, people are so hung up on facts, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but more often than not, many wrongly resort to the Bible to use as a debate book so they can prove themselves as right, or being smarter than another, totally dismissing the fact that the Bible has one specific use only - to draw closer to our Almighty God by learning the sinful nature of our hearts, the importance of repentance, and moreover, that our salvation awaits us when we give our lives to Jesus.
In this episode, I want to address one conspiracy theory which is that some people believe that the Bible teaches a flat earth by compiling various/random verses that have been used to present their argument as fact. When little do they know, the scripture they're pulling or using, is far from what they think it means. That being said is why I start off by discussing some history regarding the Bible, so that when I discuss these hand-selected verses, or break them down, it's much easier to see God's truth and meaning revealed - as in the spiritual interpretation, not what we think our human opinion about them means. Moreover, to be warned that there are consequences when we take the Holy and Divine Word of God, and intentionally redefine/twist what He gave us that is ultimately used to change our lives.
Please note that this is my personal interpretation of the scripture to the best of my current knowledge and understanding. I encourage everyone to please check and verify as scripture encourages all believers to do so. There many be times where I have overlooked and/or misunderstood information by mistake which is why verifying is important, if you feel lead by the Holy Spirit to do so.
