TWO OLD BUCKS

Send us a text

Dave visits Kennedy Space Center for the first time. Definitely with the trip, folks.
Eurobuck Paul went to Ukraine with British paratroopers to deliver much-needed supplies to the troops. We encourage you to send your tax-deductible donation to Remember Us, the American non-profit linked to Solidarite' Ukraine.
We had downloads in 56 countries in 2023. Wow!
Germany came in 2nd for country downloads followed by Canada in #3 place.
Most downloaded in 2023:
#5 = 135: Interview with Frank Young, author of 47 Aerogrammes.
#4 = 121: Interview with Mary Meaney and Annie Tregourt, Two of St. Omer's Angels
#3 = 151: Interview with Toogee Sielsch a.k.a. Tahoe Toogee a.k.a. The Bear Whisperer
#2 = 122: Interview with Phoenix, a Wounded Frontline Doctor in Ukraine
#1 = 118: Interview with Bridey Thelen-Heidel, author of We Owned the Night
Bridey was not only #1 for the year. This is now our highest downloaded episode ever. Congrats to Bridey and wishing her much success with her book due out in 2024.
Thanks to Paul T. and Roland B. for organizing the two Ukraine-based episodes. Thanks to Lake Tahoe [can you do that?] for giving us Bridey, Toogee, and Bruce. Thanks to young Frank for taking such good notes.
Wishing you all a terrific 2024 and keep those cards and letters coming in.
We end the year with a touching bonus track from John Prine from his last album. Love the lyrics and the presentation. John could make you smile, too. We miss him.
Finally, for Donora...
HAPPY NEW YEAR

166: Hot Bins, Blue Bubbles, Coincidences, What's in a Word?

Send us a text

Del, after reconfirming he's old when he tries manual labor, goes to Hot Bins shopping for bargains. He fails. This is where your Amazon returns end up, folks.
After Dave's C T scan, the technician warns him the 32-oz plastic fibre milkshake he had to chug beforehand will be exiting shortly. Like very soon. Like, go home NOW.
The Bucks applaud the woman who bought a $3.99 vase at Goodwill and sold it for $107K. Del decides to go back to Hot Bins.
The android [phone] people get to climb the social ladder when the new Beeper Mini app turns their green bubble texts to blue bubbles, JUST LIKE AN IPHONE. Apple is incensed, shutting down the app. Congress gets involved to everyone's relief. Really?
Fast Radio Bursts and a record Solar Flare followed by Coronal Mass Ejections right after the Stan Gordon interview suggest he might be on to something. To quote somebody, " There are no coincidences, only signs of alignment."
Finally, we explore words of the year. Or, as Dave said to Del, "If you had any authentic rizz you would stop gaslighting me with your hallucinations. Literally.
Well, literally literally comes from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette columnist Gene Collier. Read his December 6 column on one of his pet peeves.
Episode-appropriate bonus track is from another Canadian we know and love. Neil sings about WORDS and age lines as only he can.
Okay, not everyone is a fan of Neil's voice. If we're talking about you, listen to this Jackson Browne song as interpreted by Rachael Price, who literally has one of the most beautiful voices on the plant. This doesn't fit with the episode but Dave likes it so there you are. JB wrote this when he was sixteen.

168: 2024 Resolutions...or not, Boys in the Boat, Tahoe Toogee Alert, Charley Horse Attack

Send us a text

The Bucks welcome in 2024 with the help of Judith, VV1. Most of their resolutions deal with taking good care of old worn out body parts.
Del ends 2023 [not 2003] with a leaky waterheater. Fortunately, he is McGyver's half-brother.
Judith tells us about the movie, Boys in the Boat, which she gives two thumbs up. Del throws in two more thumbs and a partridge in a pear tree.
Dave's grandsons were here for ten days and he lived to tell about it. Lots of energy to burn up, including an obstacle course in the trees. Dave wisely remained grounded to earth.
Judith finds one of our previous guests, Tahoe Toogee, on Fox News, proving once again that The Bucks are ahead of the curve.
In another first, Dave gets a Charley Horse in the middle of the recording of this episode. Those cold morning bike rides will do that to you.
This week's bonus track by Lucinda Williams wonders how you're doing. We're doing all right, just waiting on a friend.
