Navigating Breast Cancer & Advocating for Your Health with Christy Greenleaf
10/05/23 • 44 min
Picture this: you wake up one day and everything changes. That's exactly what happened to our guest, Christy Greenleaf, who transformed from an everyday woman to a breast cancer survivor, advocate, speaker and writer. Her raw and relatable journey, which she generously shares, forces us to reflect on the importance of advocating for our health, and understanding that our scars, be it physical or otherwise, are a testament to our strength and resilience.
Christy was diagnosed at age 42 (she's 46 now) with stage 1 HER2 triple positive breast cancer with lymph node involvement and during her journey her husband was diagnosed with colon cancer. She has worked in the disability insurance industry for over 18 years and she suddenly found herself on the other side of the disability world as a claimant. Christy’s superpower is connection. Whether it is mentoring women, advocacy work, or being inspired through sharing other woman’s stories, Christy believes in the importance of prioritizing yourself before your health prioritizes you!
Christy's story is not just about surviving cancer, but also about thriving in the aftermath. With societal expectations of what women should look like pressing down on her, she chose to redefine beauty on her own terms. In doing so, Christy discovered a deep-seated strength within herself, and she encourages each of us to do the same. She also underlines the importance of a supportive community, because we, as humans, are not meant to navigate life alone.
The conversation with Christy doesn't stop at her journey, but extends to her advocacy work and her emphasis on self-care. She shares some practical tips for self-care, such as indulging in podcasts during daily walks and dedicating thirty sacred minutes each morning to herself. Christy's journey is a testament to the human spirit's ability to endure and overcome, and we know that her story will inspire you just as much as it inspired us!

The First Step to Increasing Confidence
Confidence isn't a feeling or a look; it's a decision. It's a mindset that we can cultivate each day, leading us to trust and believe in ourselves more. Over the years, we might find our confidence taking a hit due to negative experiences or comparisons we make with others. However, we have the power within us to restore that lost confidence and let it shine brightly again.
In this episode we are digging in to how we can use our top 3 priorities and actions to build up that confidence muscle and build trust and belief in ourselves. Danielle digs in to her love story and how one split decision, one action, changed the course of her life and taught her the importance of trusting your gut and taking aligned action with your priorities.
Tune in to a humorous anecdote about how Danielle met her husband and the importance of taking risks to create positive experiences. We are cracking open the true meaning of confidence and exploring how it can create a seismic shift in the world.
