Episode 10: Covid, Potty Training, Bachelor Party Memories, and the Creepy Teepee
Explicit content warning
06/21/23 • 63 min
On this 10th episode of the Trying Hard to Be Appropriate podcast, Shilo is literally gone fishing so Brock and Ryan hold it down. Ryan is recovering from his first battle with Covid and is running low on energy and stamina. Brock took his two sons and wife to Monterey for the day and the guys get the idea to maybe take a trip there in the future and do a pub crawl podcast.
They take a few minutes to remember the Mike Judge masterpiece comedy/prediction-piece that is Idiocracy. Such a great movie. They go on to discuss the woes of potty training toddlers and traveling with infants. So. Much. Packing.
The dudes then discuss bachelor party antics from the past, including Shilo's super early unconscious exit from his own bachelor party and the time they all acted like a famous band at a seedy strip club for Brock's first bachelor party.
Next, the boys explore Brock and Abbey's wedding in Lake Tahoe and the fact that the wedding was beautiful despite a steady flow of speed bumps. Pro tip...if there is a wedding happening near your house, the newly wedded and the wedding party may be less than sympathetic if you show up to said wedding screaming and yelling about noisy music.
Finally, they finish up with some stupid news and an infomercial that sucks about as bad as one can expect.

Episode 9: Graduation Madness, Drive Thru Insanity, & Life's Little Curveballs
In this 9th episode of the Trying Hard to Be Appropriate podcast, Brock, Shilo and Ryan talk about the tradition that is graduation season, as Brock's daughter recently walked the stage and Brock and Shilo were there to watch. Shilo, in a first, got there early like he was in line for concert tickets. The guys go on to recall some of their personal grad memories (or lack there of).
Next, the dudes talk about their occasional love of "White People Burritos". Brock spices up this segment with a "Story Time with Brock" regarding his version of the white people burrito. They decide a white people burrito cookoff is probably necessary.
The conversation meanders into a breakdown of Ryan's rough week, starting with him having to go to the pharmacy drive-thru and confronting a line-cutter that clearly believes age trumps fairness. This little pharmacy expedition ends with Ryan dropping his license at the drive-thru window. His week concluded with a family emergency so he is recording remotely at his mom's house.
The guys go on to talk about a true conundrum of Trying Hard to Be Appropriate...not snapping on stupid people. This becomes easier as we get older and have too much to lose.
Finally, the boys discuss elderly men having babies and the resulting lack of "being there" for the kids. Brock and Shilo discuss merch and Ryan rejoins the conversation to discuss a hot tub episode. Also, Brock looks like Dragon. Ryan eats loud candy.
Enjoy!

Episode 11: Pinecrest, Catastrophic Implosions, and Tales of Sleep Apnea
In this 11th episode of the Trying Hard to Be Appropriate podcast, the three amigos are reunited and ride again. Shilo is back from his Pinecrest vacation and breaks it down, including an awkward and unwarranted first night.
The guys discuss why they would ultimately never decide to be locked in a 22ft. sub and dive 13,000 plus feet to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to see the wreck of the Titanic. A $40 video game controller as the primary source of navigation? Nope. No thank you. They'll keep their $250,000...that they don't have in the first place.
Next, the dudes have started a new fighter squadron called the C-Papis...yes, they all have been officially diagnosed for sleep apnea and have to use CPAP machines when they sleep. They have interesting tales to tell about their sleep studies.
Finally, it seems as though there are a number of movies coming to a theater near you that Ryan will not be seeing. Enjoy!
