Welcome to part two of my deep dive into the Anthony Garcia case - with Bob Motta of the fantastic podcast, the Defense Diaries. Bob was part of Anthony Garcia’s defense team five years ago when this “serial killer” was tried for the murder of four people. Two double murders within a five year timeframe – the first in 2008, and the second in 2013 – would have police in Omaha NE wondering if they had a serial killer on their hands. The only really link was each victim’s affiliation with Creighton University in Omaha... and a former medical resident there named Anthony Garcia. Years later – and hours away, in Chicago IL - criminal defense attorney Bob Motta would receive a message in the middle of the night from Garcia’s family, requesting legal representation. And the years that followed would be a series of bizarre rabbit holes, and one of the most exhausting – and interesting - trials in Nebraska history.
