Ubuntu (I am because You Are)
In this Tiny Awakening, I am reintroduced to the African Humanistic Philosophy of Ubuntu. Reminiscing about the time I spent in Peace Education at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Kigali, Rwanda. Ubumuntu or Ubuntu is an expression of our shared humanity, actively expressed through empathy and care for other people.
- Book Recommendation: “Ishmael” (1992) by Daniel Quinn ~ not about the genocide or ubuntu but rather the modern cultural biases that drives humanity to individualism
