There are limits to transistor size & core density - and modern computing is pushing silicon right to the edge. What comes next? We’re joined by Professor Nick Colosimo to discuss trends in artificial intelligence and next-generation computing architectures. He estimates that replicating the 89 billion neurons of your brain in silicon would require hundreds 100's of kilowatts of power and take cubic meters of volume – compared to only 20 watts and 1.2 liters inside your head. What is it about the human brain that’s so much more efficient? It's an important question not only for Artificial Intelligence, but for information processing in general. DCDC’s Global Strategic Trends estimates that mankind will generate over 178 million exabytes of digitally stored data by the year 2045. We can store that data, but can we process it effectively - or will we end up living in a world of "missed opportunities"? Nick Colosimo is an accomplished strategist, engineer, technologist and futurist. He currently has a dual role is as the Head of Strategy & Integration as well as the Autonomy & Robotics Senior Technologist & Cluster Lead at BAE Systems Air. He is also a visiting Professor at Cranfield University, assigned to the Autonomous and Cyber-Physical Systems Centre. Nick has just completed a Master’s of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence at Cranfield University, and has over 70 published, granted, and classified patents across a wide array of disciplines in the aerospace, energy, and computing sectors. Dr. Matthew Szydagis reviews the first experimental search results for Dark Matter from the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) detector and explains how physicists around the world are competing to detect new exotic particles and solve one of physics biggest mysteries. Matthew received his B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2005, 2006 and 2011 respectively, then continued his work in physics as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California Davis (2010-2014). The Department of Homeland Security captured the Aguadilla UAP on FLIR & radar with visual confirmation. Rich Hoffman joins us to analyze the video of this remarkable encounter. The Aguadilla UAP sighting occurred on April 25th, 2013, and was filmed over Rafael Hernandez airport at Aguadilla, Puerto Rico by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection DHC-8 aircraft. The encounter started when an unidentified flying object delayed the departure of a scheduled FedEx flight, and was visually identified as having a pinkish glow by both Fedex pilots and air-traffic controllers. The DHS DHC-8 was retasked and recorded the object on FLIR, while it was simultaneously tracked on airport radar. Rich Hoffman has a BA in Organizational Communications from Wright State University. He currently works as an Enterprise Architect at Redstone Arsenal and the Marshall Space Flight Center, and over 54 years of experience investigating and researching the UFO subject. Rich has served as Director of Investigations, Star Team Manager and Director of Strategic Projects, as well as the State Director of MUFON and worked with numerous organizations.
