In just under 11 minutes, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford gives a brief rundown of everything that is happening at one of the premier institutions in the United States...Northeast Mississippi Community College. In a quick rundown, Ford talks about the plans for graduation on Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13 with the processional beginning at 6:15 p.m. entering the Bonner Arnold Coliseum and the ceremony immediately starting following the processional. During the two-night commencement exercises, Northeast will see approximately 500 students cross the stage to get their degrees and will follow that up with the college's GED/HiSET graduation on Monday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. All graduation ceremonies will air live on NEMCCTV.com and be archived on the college's YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/nemcctv). In addition to reminding listeners of the earlier-than-normal start time for graduation, Ford talks about the upcoming program reviews and encourages all employees to perform continuous evaluations on not only their jobs but their personal lives as well. Ford discusses upcoming events such as the Northeast Mississippi Football Coaches Association high school all-star game that will be filled with a multitude of local high school talent on Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium and the Mobile Learning Conference on June 13 and June 14 online that serves as a valuable resource for our K-12 partners, our Institutes of Higher Learning members and our community college partners on how to incorporate technology in the classroom and instruction. Ford gives a rundown on ongoing construction projects such as the finishing of the Phase II MDOT project that will give the college a safer environment and the beginnings of the Phase III of the project. Ford talks about the former Corinthian Furniture building on West Chambers Drive and changes coming to it and the work on the outdoor classrooms and Seth Pounds Auditorium. Ford addresses athletics that continue throughout the spring such as the Lady Tiger softball team playing the Region XXIII Tournament in Wesson this week (games can be viewed on the Gold Channel of NEMCCTV.com) and two Northeast Tiger linksters qualifying for the NJCAA National Golf Championships in Joplin, Missouri on May 17-20.

Ford gives a brief rundown of everything that is happening at one of the premier institutions in the United States...Northeast Mississippi Community College. In a quick end-of-the-semester rundown, Ford talks about final exams and graduation at Northeast and the importance of faculty turning their grades in on time, and students, who want to come to summer school, paying their fees on time to avoid any delay in processing their desires for an education. Ford talks about the group of administration that went to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) national conference and presented on what the college is doing as it concerns Strategic Doing. In an update on projects happening around campus, Ford announces that all the water fountains on campus will be changed in the coming weeks to provide filtered, cold and regular temperature water with a touchless base and addresses the needs for short-term projects like the NEMCC Tennis Complex and the Faculty/Staff Development Area in the Eula Dees Memorial Library finished as soon as possible to make way for long-term projects like a Performing Arts Center that will host more musical, entertainment, theatre, choral and symphony performances. Ford suggests that the renovations to the Seth Pounds Auditorium would be perfect for a display of the arts until a proper Performing Arts Center can be built. Ford asks all listeners for their input on new programs that the college can offer to help bolster the Northeast lineup such as the new Fiber Optic Technician Program, a night/evening/weekend school for ADN and LPN students, the addition of a cyber security team on campus and coding that will help promote technology use in the classroom to our K-12 partners. Ford brags on Northeast's online workforce training platform that currently has 93 students enrolled but has accomplished nearly 1,500 training modules for the area industry. Ford talks about athletics with softball beginning in its state tournament on Wednesday against Copiah-Lincoln at Jones County and Baseball hosting a three-game series against Jones County on Thursday at 6 p.m. Ford also takes pride in announcing the first-ever Jeffrey Powell Memorial Scholarship recipient.

Ford recaps the last week where the college saw many of its students walk in graduations such as the Health Sciences graduation, the Associate of Arts graduation, special softball graduation, and the HiSET/GED graduation on Monday, May 16. Ford talked about the magic moments of graduation and the stories behind many students overcoming adversity to graduate from college and the looks on their faces when they were able to finally walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. Ford discusses the changes coming to the Eula Dees Memorial Library including the additions of a Maker Space, where students can explore their creativity, and the recently announced Employee Development Center that will focus on professional development for faculty and staff as it concerns technology in the classroom and in everyday life. Ford also talks about upgrading the library and making it a student-centered and user-friendly space going forward. Ford gives a rundown of the various projects happening around campus including the addition of touchless water fountains in many of the buildings, the pouring concrete for outdoor classrooms, the conclusion of Phase II of the MDOT project, and the opening of Phase III of the project to make the campus safer. Ford also tells employees to enjoy the days after graduation and use this time to get ready for summer and fall sessions with students soon.
