Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College

In episode 91, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes associate vice president of career and technical education Jason Mattox back to the podcast to talk about the Tiger Apprenticeship program and how it not only benefits NEMCC students and faculty but the companies involved in the process as well. Mattox talks about the Tiger Apprenticeship Interview Day last week where some students were offered on-the-spot jobs with companies and others were extended interviews with over 25 companies in attendance. Mattox discusses what the Tiger Apprenticeship program is and also touches on Gayle Davis Hall and how it has transformed instruction in the diesel power technology program with the addition of the state-of-the-art building and equipment. In the second half of the podcast, head men's basketball coach Cord Wright joins Kollmeyer for a 2019-2020 season preview as the veteran coach talks about the upcoming season, players to watch and his expectations for the year. In addition to his insight on the team, Wright talks about his sophomores on the roster and some of the freshmen players to be watching for during the upcoming campaign. Between the segments, Kollmeyer gives a rundown of events that are happening in the next 10 days and also mentions a few events to be on the lookout for later in the month. In episode 92, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes the college registrar and director of enrollment services Chassie Kelly to the podcast to talk about the importance of advising and how it plays a role in the lives of our students. Monday, students could begin to meet with their advisors in anticipation of Priority Registration Day on Friday, November 8. Kelly addresses the need to meet with an advisor along with what happens on Priority Registration Day. Sophomores can start registering for Spring 2020 classes at 8 a.m. on Friday, November 8 while freshmen registration opens at 9 a.m. Open registration for anyone looking to come back to school during the Spring 2020 semester can start registering on November 18. In the second half of the podcast, division head of languages and humanities Dr. Justin Treloar drops by the podcast to give listeners a rundown on the Writing Center in Wright Hall and how it and the Student Success Center play a pivotal role in the success of students at Northeast. Treloar also talks about all the events and projects that the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society has been up to since the fall semester started and about some of the rewards students get for just being a member of the honor society.
