Amanda Hobson is an award-winning strategic and results oriented finance leader with more than 20 years’ experience in large and international public companies specialising in finance, treasury, investor relations, foreign exchange and interest rate risk management. She is presently the SVP, Investor Relations & Treasury at Finning International.
In this episode, Amanda shares the experiences and learning she’s gleaned as a Finance leader tasked with supporting organisations in the midst of widespread market disruption. It’s rather relevant given our present (quarantined) circumstances.
She discusses the importance of investing in human resources and technology shares her thoughts on the importance of building business cases that achieve meaningful impact and not only financial returns. She’s candid when emphasising that motivating and engaging the teams is, in her own words “an incredibly rewarding experience”.

Amanda was recognised as one of BC’s Most Influential Women in Finance by BC Business in 2019, named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2018 by WXN and recognised as 2017 BC CFO of the Year in the Emerging Leader category by Business in Vancouver and CPABC. Amanda currently serves on the board of the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation where she is Treasurer and Chair of the Finance, Investment and Audit Committee. Amanda is currently in the midst of a career transition from the BC Lottery Corporation, where she served as the CFO and VP of Finance and Corporate Services, to Finning International, where she will assume the role of SVP Investor Relations and Treasury.
