Thinking Inside the Box

Jill Katz had everything. An HR Executive at a prestigious NYC-based fashion retailer, a loving husband and two beautiful children, Jill had a life most can only dream of. Though something was missing - impact.

In an era where entrepreneurship and the now-(in)famous ‘side hustle’ is romanticised, Jill took the proverbial leap of faith & left her corporate career behind. It hasn’t always been easy. There is no sugar-coating life’s challenges with Jill. Juggling entrepreneurship and a young family hasn’t always been easy.

Preaching a mantra of ‘Candour, Courage & Care’, Jill hopes to inspire others to live the most authentic version of themselves.

Jill’s unique authentic style is on full display in this episode, as she shares the lessons learned in transitioning from an executive to entrepreneur, and the advice she believes other working professionals need to hear.

This is a must listen for any working professionals considering their own ‘leap’ into entrepreneurship.

How the Candidate Experience has Evolved - Rebecca Oppenheim

Rebecca Oppenheim isn’t satisfied with the status quo. As Co-Founder of nextOPP Search - a B Corp Certified, women-owned, NYC-based recruiting agency, she feels responsible for affecting real change. Aware that 74% of domestic abuse survivors remain in abusive relationships longer due to financial concerns, Rebecca has made it her mission to help individuals realize financial independence, rebuild their lives, or potentially get out of an abusive relationship for good.

NextOPP is a double bottom line company: for-profit and for-purpose. Through their ‘Hire-One-Help-One’ program, they donate career coaching services to a survivor of domestic violence for every candidate that’s placed.

They’re part of a growing number of organizations assessing impact beyond the narrow lens of financial statements. So it should come as no surprise that their approach to their own core business is also innovative. They’re faced with real challenges in finding the balance between adapting technological innovations & preserving candidate experiences that are uniquely human.

Though with a grip-like hold on purpose, Rebecca stays true to her own ‘North Star’.

How to Choose Between Team & Community - Eric Termuende

Planes, trains & automobiles - such is the life of a professional speaker. Eric Termuende has graced over 250 stages in the past 6 years speaking professionally, asking a simple question: ‘how should we talk about work?’

A best-selling author, entrepreneur & speaker, Eric preaches self-awareness as a pillar of branding - in both the personal and broader organisational (employment) sense. There are many paths to success. Though the paths to failure are lined with countless examples of in-authenticity.

When we join an organisation, we aren’t signing up for 39.5 hours / week. We’re signing up for a lifestyle, a community, Eric argues. A community extends beyond the standard work week & its efficacy is assessed more broadly than the individual inputs of its members.

Join Eric & I as we discuss the importance of creating community in every part of our lives. Why it’s the secret sauce for personal and professional success.
Eric Termuende
Eric Termuende is a globally recognised thought leader, author, and international speaker on the future of work and building teams that thrive, His best-selling book, “Rethink Work” has become a must-read for today’s leaders. As co-founder of NoW Innovations, he is creating a movement bringing diverse leaders together to share best practices and evolve in the NoW.
