The Wrestling Life Support Podcast

It's January and that means one thing - Royal Rumble month! The Wrestling Life Support Podcast goes back to the beginning and takes a look at Royal Rumble 1988 which aired live on the USA Network. Not only do the guys review the 20-man version of what would become a professional wrestling staple, they are treated (probably not the right term in many of these instances) to an early in-ring contract signing between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, an attempt at the bench press world record that turned into an attempt at the world's longest non-wrestling segment on a wrestling show record, the always-60 year old Judy Martin, and the Jumping Bomb Angels!

But wait! There's more! We also have another "Ask Donnie" segment covering topics from Skinner and The Executioner to the worst finisher to the best stable not named the Four Horsemen, New World Order, or DX.

Please subscribe, leave a review, and we will catch you next time! Adios!

WWF Prime Time Wrestling: New Year's Eve 1986

What better way to celebrate New Year's Eve 2020 than by going back to (almost) New Year's Eve 1986 and spending it with Gorilla, "The Brain", and a litany of WWF's finest undercard talents! The Wrestling Life Support goes back in the time machine to review the December 30, 1986 episode of WWF Prime Time Wrestling!

Our hosts, Donnie and Jay, get to sift through a helping of post-Christmas randomness including Terry Gibbs, Sivi Afi, the forgotten duo of Corporal Kirchner and "The Rebel" Dick Slater, Jose Luis Rivera, and Steve Lombardi. But don't get blinded by that star power...you also get Jay Lauderdale's rant on why Tito Santana vs. Hercules is a match that should be studied by all modern wrestlers, countless non-PC remarks that are poorly veiled by Gorilla and Heenan, suspenders-version Honky Tonk Man, and Outback Jack!

All of this, plus another installment of "Ask Donnie" that covers topics ranging from Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling, the best Four Horsemen quartet, and who was truly the best practitioner of voodoo in pro wrestling.

NWA TNA Weekly PPV #1 (June 2002)

In this week's episode, the Wrestling Life Support Podcast reviews what can only be described as one of the worst booked shows in major wrestling history - NWA TNA Weekly PPV #1. From the top stars burying the main event to Scott Hall as a hand-slapping babyface to a never-ending roster of mid-card comedy heel tag teams, it's not for the faint of heart. The Johnsons. Mortimer Plumtree. Don West and Ed Ferrara. The Flying Elvises. Do we need to keep going? Ok. Teo and Hollywood. The Dupps. And, worst of all, Hermie Sadler in the least subtle racist promo in wrestling history, Just ugh. But there has to be some good, right? Maybe. Download the episode and find out! Other than the review, we have another "Ask Donnie" segment featuring topics ranging from the TNA "Mount Rushmore" to wrestling's biggest flop to preferred ring mat colors. Please subscribe, leave a review, and we will catch you next time! Adios!
