The Unlock Moment: find your purpose for leadership and life

As my long-time listeners will know, I’m deeply curious about what makes people who they are, and Dax Grant has really had a remarkable life’s journey.

Born the daughter of a Bosnian coal miner and a shepherdess, she worked her way up, first to Cambridge where she studied economics and then into banking and finance where she became a Director at Visa and then CIO Global Operations at HSBC.

Now in her portfolio career she works with growth organisations and multinationals, and their leadership teams through positive changes to pivot, grow and innovate via digitisation and super-connectivity. She’s been featured on multiple top 100 lists in tech, is a prolific speaker and a member of the Forbes Technology Council.

She’s also the author of ‘The Entrepreneurial Quotient: Humanising Business Through Societal Leadership and Entrepreneurial Skill’

Dax says: "My mission is to bring forward the value of the societal C-suite executive and CEO to the world stage."

I’m looking forward to hearing about the Unlock Moments of remarkable clarity that shaped her and can’t wait to find out more!

109 James Kerr: Overcoming A Fear Of Success - Life and Leadership Lessons From A Global Coaching Thought Leader

We often think about overcoming a fear of failure, but have you ever thought about whether you have a fear of success? Many of the people I work with in coaching struggle the first time they feel exposed as a leader, the first time they feel people's expectations of them, the first time they feel that the consequences of their actions impact much more than just themselves. And overcoming a fear of success is what world-leading coach James Kerr described as his Unlock Moment when he recorded for the podcast.

With over 300 articles, 70 media interviews and 6 business books, Jim Kerr is one of the most prolific authors of thought leadership in the business and is top 10 ranked by Thinkers 360 in coaching, leadership, culture, strategy, change management and the future of work. He is the #1 ranked global thought leader in coaching. He has also been featured in Fast Company, BusinessWeek, Psychology Today and Bloomberg and he’s the author of “Indispensable, Build and Lead a Company Customers Can’t Live Without”. He’s also the host of The Indispensable Conversation podcast, where I was delighted to be featured a few weeks ago.

A guest with a lifetime of experience in leadership and coaching, his is such a wise voice and I know you'll get a huge amount from this episode. Enjoy my conversation with world-leading coach Jim Kerr.

111 Prof Jonathan Passmore: Igniting An Extraordinary Work Ethic And Why We Should Be Cautious Of ChatGPT

This is a conversation about coaching, about leadership, about the work ethic and discipline that sparked an extraordinary career of success. We also touch on the power of AI, the perils of ChatGPT, purpose, plagiarism and prehistory in a fascinating and wide-ranging interview with one of the pre-eminent executive and leadership coaches of our time.

My guest on The Unlock Moment today is a globally-recognised coaching psychologist and executive coach, ranked among the top 10 professional coaches worldwide. Professor Jonathan Passmore has helped numerous leaders in finance, technology, sports and government to reflect, gain fresh perspectives and acquire new insights.

He is Professor of Coaching and Behavioural Change at Henley Business School here in the UK, which is where I trained in coaching, and his work includes 40 books and over 200 scientific articles and book chapters, making him one of the most published coaching researchers in the world. He is a Senior Vice President at EZRA Coaching, a world-leading digital coaching provider. Like many who have graced this stage, Jonathan is a member of the Marshall Goldsmith 100 Coaches group and he has just this week been shortlisted for the prestigious Thinkers 50 Coaching and Mentoring Award.

I’m looking forward to understanding what drives Jonathan to be such a prolific researcher and author in the field of coaching, how he thinks about finding purpose and of course, I want to hear more about the Unlock Moments of remarkable clarity that helped him to figure out the path ahead.
